So, these (http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...870-ND/3664365) would be okay? 3300microF, 25V, 10000hrs @ 105C.

Re: Quirky 42" Phillips Plasma TV (42PF9631D-37)
I would get some reputable capacitors. Imho radio shack caps are crap. There will be two you need to change. I believe they are 16v 3300 mfd. Get the 25v 3300mfd. you can step up voltage on capacitors that's not going to change anything its just going to make the capacitors be able to handle more in when you do get new capacitors make sure you get the higher rated temperature capacitors because these capacitors are near heat sinks. Go for nicheons.Leave a comment:

Re: Quirky 42" Phillips Plasma TV (42PF9631D-37)
Thanks for the input. That'll be the first thing I check when he gets around to showing the tv to me. Worst case scenario, if I damage the board when trying to replace the caps, I think a new ps costs ~$60. I'll likely buy the new caps from here, but what about a local shop, like RadioShack? There's a store right down the street (don't have to wait for shipping).Leave a comment:

That model. There are two 3300mfd caps that swell on the bottom of the ps that control low voltage section. Id say very likely.Leave a comment:

Quirky 42" Phillips Plasma TV (42PF9631D-37)
A neighbor is selling a 42" plasma tv that isn't working properly. He says that the tv turns-on and works fine when it is cool, but once it has been turned-on and then shut-off, it takes DAYS to turn back on. Also, when he turns it off, he also has to unplug the tv because LEDs start flashing on the tv.
He hasn't had a chance to show me the tv yet, but I suspect the problem is bad capacitors. I have done a bit of soldering/desoldering, but never on a circuit board, but after reading some how-tos on this site (and others) I think I have all the tools and skills to manage it.
So, I guess my question is: how likely is it that bad capacitors are the problem and is the tv worth his $100 asking price in its current condition?
He bought the tv new in 2006.Tags: None

by Uranium-235Customer said if he keeps it on for a long time, turns it off, and later back on, it takes 10 minutes to get to proper brightness. Is this just a cap issue? I didn't have time to take it apart I was just there to drop a repaired laptop off

by ArMaaN376Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.

by jm1234Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults... -
by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
