just picked up this TV tonight. Blinking 8 times. Looked into the SS bored and found shorted Q051. DG302 mosfet. my understanding is there are a few discreet semi conductors on this board that go south along with the shorted MOSFET. I have yet to find any other short circuits on any components. I wonder if I just replace this DG 302. Does anybody know a good substitute. I don't feel like spending 50 bucks on eBay for a repair kit for this board. I have another Panasonic sustain board that uses a few different mosfets. they fall just a tad short of the specifications of this mosfet. anyone with experience on this board could you tell me what else I should look for in the way of other failed components. it appears to be a common failure on this SS board. Thanks

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
The heat sync handling the dissipation of this high speed switching mosfet and diode is less than adequate for the task at hand. The bottom of the ss board is dark in the area. Bad design in my opinion.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Personally I doubt it. They had that issue with their 2010 & 2011 panels. They've had more than sufficient time to sort it out, if it did cause it, that's poor design. I'm going to hug my PZ80, because it looks like there are no good plasmas made beyond about 2011.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Agreed. Oh btw. There are arc marks on every screw lug of the ss board. A shame that panasonic went this route.
I however have a tc-p55ut50 with a busted screen. Looks like its part scavenging time.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

On a side note thw the pic quality seems to have degraded after th PZ series as well. I put my tc-p55ut50 next to a tc-50pz80u and whe whites are dimmer on the 55 and black level is not great either.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Personally, I have the 50G20 equivalent 2010. My 2009 HD has better contrast, and i have a 46 PZ800 and it's definitely sharper. The FHD 2010 model is washed out a bit and dimmer, also has better power consumption and that's probably why as i believe they've concentratedd on reducing power consumption, Just my 2 cents worth.Comment

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
my two cents worth is the less components on each board and the more confined that these TVs have to be lately the worse picture quality. On a side note it appears that the tc-p55ut50 inch uses the same SS board so I already have the board go figure. Oh and the top screw was loose on this one just like my 50 with the shorted SS. Maybe the panel is beind used for some kind of "last resort" heat sync and if the screw loosens the SS cant cool the top mosfets?Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: panasonic TC-P50U50 8 blinks
Good evening. I stumbled across this site & thread because I also have a TC-P50U50 with 8 blinks. I'm a copier tech, so I'm not as savvy with TV's as some of you may be. I know 8 blinks can indicate a number of issues. Since I have low experience, I want to just buy & replace the SS Board because it seems like the most likely culprit.
I was wondering if there was any alternate suggestions or if anyone knew of the best place to buy this board. Seems like the only place I can find one is ebay. Thanks for your help!Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by sam_sam_samI did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow
This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

by canadaboy25I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.
The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.
I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was... -
by BiruslapioHello, I've had this TV for 3 years, 2 years ago it stopped working signaling 12 Blinks, SOUND_SOS according to the service manual.
It has no VSUS or VDAT, and P15V has 1.0V instead, the same 15V goes to A board. F15V is ok and other main voltage rails.
It seems the power supply is defective, since unplugging D20 ribbon cable that goes from D-board to SC-board makes the behavior change, the TV stays on, there's no image nor VSUS, but 15V reads 2.4V, high enough to not trip the SOS 12 blinks, so it stays on, fans do not spin but I left it 2 hours, green led lit up... -
by mmischniGreetings friends,
I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75U manufactured in 2007. It has been trouble-free until recently. One evening I turned it on and it then powered back off and gave 7 blinks.
First a question about the blinks. Everyone only speaks of a single number of blinks. I noticed on my TV, it blinks one fewer times for the first group of blinks, then blinks the full number repeatedly. So for my first code in question, the TV switches off, blinks 6, then blinks 7 repeatedly. When I disconnected the SC board, the TV switches off, blinks 7, then blinks 8 repeatedly.... - Loading...
