Hello all, I have an Insignia 42" TV (model NS-42P650A11). After a recent lightning strike, I was not able to turn on my TV. When I plugged it in, it would just click about 5 times and then shutoff. It never really turned on at all. Also, I was not able to use the remote or the touch buttons on the side of the TV to get it to do anything.
After inspecting the power supply board, I didn't find any bulging, cracked, or leaking capacitors. I measured the voltages going to the X-main, Y-main, and logic board, and they appear to match what is printed on the circuit board. So, I think my power supply board is fine. I did find a shorted transistor on my Y-main, but rather than replacing that transistor, I just decided to buy a new Y-main board. While i was at it, I replaced the X-main, logic board, and Y-buffer board. The only boards i did not replace were the power board and main board (with all the video inputs).
So, after replacing all the boards, i plugged in the TV. It clicked once like it was turning on, and prior to pushing any power buttons, the TV powered up with a gray screen for maybe 5 seconds, then turned completely to a black screen. The TV still does not respond to the remote control (which i know is working), or to the buttons on the side of the TV. Honestly, it's hard to tell if the TV is even powered on. I assume it is since the green LED on the logic board is on.
So, to my questions. Is this normal behavior for just plugging in the TV and not pushing any power buttons? Is it possible that the IR board on the TV is bad, so the TV won't really turn on or respond to remote or buttons? What are symptoms of a bad display panel? Could this be my problem?
Are there any other tests i could run to narrow it down? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
