Re: Insignia 42" won't turn on - gray screen
There are "manual" buttons but they are part of the IR board also. The power "buttons" on the side of the tv aren't really true buttons (I mean they don't click or move when pressed). I think they are some sort of "touch" buttons. But again they are all part of the same IR board.

Re: Insignia 42" won't turn on - gray screen
Ok, main board then. What are the chances the IR board is bad also? I'm wondering if I should maybe replace that also. Or is there any way to test it?

Re: Insignia 42" won't turn on - gray screen
Tom, I ran the test you suggested. I get a white screen, then red, then green, then blue. Then it goes thru a series of scrolling colors. And then it repeats...
I'm assuming that's a successful test? Where do we go from here? Does that suggest a bad main (A/V) board?

Re: Insignia 42" won't turn on - gray screen
Thanks for the reply! I've attached a picture of my logic board below. I want to make sure i get it right, which cable is the LVDS cable? Is it the flat cable that goes to the main board (coming out the top in my picture)? Or the cable on the left that goes to the y-main board, or the cable on the right that goes to the x-main board? Or the one that goes to the power supply board? Appreciate the help!...

Insignia 42" won't turn on - gray screen
Hello all, I have an Insignia 42" TV (model NS-42P650A11). After a recent lightning strike, I was not able to turn on my TV. When I plugged it in, it would just click about 5 times and then shutoff. After inspecting the power supply board, I didn't find any bulging, cracked, or leaking capacitors. I measured the voltages going to the X-main, Y-main, and logic board, and they appear to match what is printed on the circuit board. So, I...
