Thanks Tom. I think i am going to part this one out. Do you know of a place to sell parts kind of quick other than ebay or is that my only option?

I certainly wouldn't part out a plasma with only a damaged Y-sus, I'd sell the TV on as faulty or look for a new Y-sus.

The thing is i think the control board is faulty also because the led on that has not been on since i have had this tv. And the test i performed to see if it worked the led would not flash. That is another $50 or so and the Y-sus is easily $70.

And how much is a 50", 720p plasma TV worth in your area?
Control board might only light up if Y-sus is OK if it performs test of Y-sus on start up.

Ok. i know its been awhile but i finally ordered a new y-sus from this seller on amazon stating that this was a new oem part. Anyway. i installed this and the tv still does not show a picture. There is sound but no picture. I checked all the voltages going from the power supply into the y-sus and everything is correct. I leave the tv on for around 30 minutes and the heatsinks will not warm up on either board but the power supply heats up. Anything else it could be or did i get a bad part? Thanks

Do you have any voltage across the -Vy and Vsc testpoints on Y-sustain?

Could you please explain this alittle better. Still kind of new to it. I see a VSC and VY on the board with a thing kind of looking like a resistor? I dont know if these are the test points. And what would you put your meter on to test these voltages? Does the tv need to be on or off?

There's a sticker on the back of the plasma module marked "Model: PDP50K5#####" (for example) what is your model code? Note: not the same as 50PQ30.

Ok...on the z-sus board i did not have the test points like in the guide for VZbias. I did have where it had VZB to the right of the picture but not the top where it says VZB. I tested that spot just in case and i got 71.6 . Also i got the results VY- 189.3 and VSC 135.8.

i did these measurements with my multimeter set at dcv with a straight line and dotted line over the v.

Do those voltages agree with the panel sticker? The Vzb sounds a little low -- would normally be in the 90 ~ 120V range.

On the panel VZB is 85 VY is 188 and VSC is 138

Do i need to adjust the VSC also?

I adjusted the vsc but something just doesnt seem right about the VZB. I keep getting eractic voltages. I do not know if im measuring in the right spot or not. Would you like me to get you a picture of my Z-sus board to show me where to measure this at?

Ok scratch that. I did not see in the photo they said i can measure across C239 to get the reading which is what im doing but the voltages are everywhere.

I would definitely look at Z-sustain then. Also, if you like, try comparing voltages with your old Y-sustain. You can leave the buffer boards out.

With a bad Z-sus would that keep the Y-sus heatsinks from warming up? Because niether are warming up at all after the tv is on for 30 minutes.

I have another question, since the Z-sus is plugged into the Y-sus, does the Z-sus get its power from the Y-sus? I have not seen another cable that connects the Z-sus to the power supply.
