I have a 2008 Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U. When the TV warms up, a 3 inch transparent yellowish vertical bar appears in a fixed position from top to bottom on the right side of the screen. The bar overlays any video input including the TV's menus. It first appeared with images that have white backgrounds. It now appears with any background. It may disappear for a while if I tap on the chassis. I have re-seated some of the ribbon cables with no effect on the bar. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to diagnose and solve this problem? Thanks much.

Re: Panasonic TH 50PZ80U Transparent Vertical Bar
This will be a loose ribbon but it will be on the bottom of the plasma panel not the side. Have you reseated those ones? Very common issue on these panels. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TH 50PZ80U Transparent Vertical Bar
I reseated the ribbon cable but the transparent vertical bar still appears. Removing the ribbon cable replaces video with static in the bar. Is the next step to replace the C1 buffer board? Is there any way to determine if the problem is with the board or the components in the ribbon cable?Comment

Which board does the bar cover, C1, C2, ...?
Also, can you provide a picture of the fault? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic TH 50PZ80U Transparent Vertical Bar
Had same tv with same issue in the left side if the screen. Turned out to be a bad chip on the ribbon of the panel. Eventually it got to the point where it caused a sos shutdown. Had to eventually remove the sos on the ss board with owners blessing. It kept going.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

by JDCIssue: Panasonic TH-50PZ80U works fine but has no HDMI output.
Easy solution: replace main board.
Advanced solution: replace HDMI chip on main board.
Unless you've got the time, tools and the hands of a surgeon, skip the advanced solution. For you beginners out there reading this, you would need to use a combination of a heat gun, flux, solder, and probably a microscope to succeed. If there is someplace you can send the board in for repair, you can go for that. From what I've read elsewhere, I don't think this TV will even do 720p.

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing hereπ€?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting π.

by mopensteinI'm working on my 27" RCA console TV built in 1990. It had some vertical rollover for a few months that went away after being powered on for a few minutes. I had been meaning to open it up and check it out but it had total vertical collapse before I could get to it.
Now that I have the time I opened it up and found a couple leaky capacitors around the vertical ic. So I figured the caps went bad and cooked the vertical IC.
I got the caps out and replacements on order. But when I took out the Vertical IC I saw that the chip numbers have been almost completely wiped... -
by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesnβt display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by kiwi2000My 2013 Panasonic plasma tv has a thin vertical multiple colour line. What could be the problem?
Should I start by cleaning the flexible connectors at the bottom of the screen or there could be a problem with one of the boards? From pictures posted, need to remove brackets to get to the bottom flexible connectors.
