Does anyone know how to test a power supply? My TV turns on then back off again within a few seconds. I don't think it's the Y-SUS as it produces a picture before it shuts down and disconnecting the Y-SUS and X-SUS doesn't allow TV to stay on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, there seems to an internet blackout on this issue.

Do you see a PS-ON, RL-ON and/or VS-ON labelled pin on connectors on power supply board? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Hitachi P50S602 Plasma Power Supply Testing?
No, other than the power in, the connectors are CN23, CNPPS & CN06, as follows:
(from top to bottom)
CN23 - Va, Va, NC, Vcc5.1V, GND, GND, GND, NC, Vs, Vs
CNPPS - AUDIO 17V, AUDIO GND, +17V, GND, +5.6V, +5.6V, GND, GND, STBY5V, GND, AC CLOCK, POWER1, POWER2, AC OFF, NC
CN06 - Vcc1.5C, GND, Vra, Vrs, Vcego, Vsago, AC OFFComment

Re: Hitachi P50S602 Plasma Power Supply Testing?
OK, I think the signals are POWER1, POWER2, Vsago, Vcego.
You want to have the power supply connected and power the set up, check the various voltages on these pins, and see how they change when the power button is pressed. If they drop out, then the power board is probably OK and the main board is shutting down. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Hitachi P50S602 Plasma Power Supply Testing?
When I press the power button, the connections go from 0V to as follows:
POWER1 - 4.3V even after fans stop (shuts itself off) MAIN
POWER2 - 3.2V even after fans stop (shuts itself off) MAIN
Vcego - 3.0V until fans stop then 0V LOGIC
Vsago - 3.0V until fans start then 0V LOGIC
I could not read the connections from the PSU Board so I read them from the MAIN & LOGIC Boards.Last edited by Robb; 09-30-2013, 02:49 PM.Comment

Re: Hitachi P50S602 Plasma Power Supply Testing?
OK, this indicates the logic is shutting off the power, which is likely because it detects a fault on either YSUS or XSUS board. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Hitachi P50S602 Plasma Power Supply Testing?
So, if the YSUS or XSUS is faulty, the display can still work briefly (black background with multicolored pixel static/snow).
I have disconnected the cables between PSU & XSUS and then XSUS & YSUS, but it still won't stay powered on. I also disconnected the Y-Buffers and same thing. Not sure how to locate the source of the problem.Comment

I have no experience with Hitachi plasmas, but pink snow makes me thing more of a YSUS than XSUS, if that helps...Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by lp20thI have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

by navagatorI have a Hitachi 57F710E rear projection set with a bad power supply board. I've tried to fix it with help from this forum as well as another one, but without success. Today I found a Hitachi rear projection set for sale on Facebook that looked just like mine. After contacting the seller I found out it was a 51F510. According to the service manuals my set uses a HA01312, POWER UNIT DP4X-DM_24W and the 51F510 uses a HA01313, U901, POWER UNIT DP4X_24W.
Does anyone know if these 2 power supply boards are interchangeable?

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -
by repair-itI am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.
