    Philips 42PF9966/37 Plasma No Pic

    I just picked up this old plasma with Chassis FTP2.2U AA, which is Samsung based. It turns on but all I see is colored lines where any display would be. If I adjust the volume I can see where the OSD would be but it is completely distorted. I was not able to get volume because I cannot see what input Im on, but it seems like everything else is OK.

    I did a quick check of voltages on PS:

    Measured----Sticker
    VS = 170V------(170V)
    VE = 155V----- (155V)

    VA = 157V----- (70V)
    VSC= -116V---- (-55V)

    Any thoughts on the VA and VSC being way off?

    If your Va is truly 157V, the plasma display is well and truly fried.

      I made a mistake there was a solder pad next to where the VA wires are and I assumed that was test point. VA is measuring 71V.

      However the VSC measured at "T-VSCAN" point, is measuring the -116V. Is that the right test point?

        Can you show a picture of the problem? Poor Vscan could cause that.
        Also, try the test pattern generator: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...61&postcount=2

          This is when I hit Menu button, otherwise it's just some lines in the top left of screen.

            Poor VScan is caused by what? Ill do that test pattern soon I have to dig down into it to get to the logic board.

              Poor Vscan can be cased by bad Y-buffer or fault on Y-sus or sub power/main power board (if that generates -Vsc). Check with buffers removed. Does the Y-sus power connect include -Vscan/-Vsc pin? If so, then the sub power/main power may cause the fault, try w/o Y-sus connected.

                This is the logic board, any idea how to do the test patterns on this one?

                  I don't see any way to do test patterns on that board, very old school tech there.

                    I disconnected Y-Main and -Vscan went normal (-55V). So I delved further into the TV and the bottom chip on the lower buffer had a slight bubble. It showed short as did the 3 mosfets on the Y-Main. Everything else seems OK.

                    Is it likely I can get away with replacing the lower buffer and those 3 (or whichever one is shorted) ICs?

                      Hello guys,
                      My Plasma Philips 37inch chassis FTL2.1 does no picture ,and goes into protection mode after 30 seconds (red led blinks at 3Hz).

                      Can someone has any symptom like this ?

                      Thanks

                      Hello, guys!

                      The same 32" Philips TV I was having video issues, but now I don't have standby led at all. Someone here shared with me the schematic of the power supply, and checking the voltages, I see right after the resistor R604 I'm getting 1.6 v which is too low for enabling the Gate of the Q601 mosfet (the diagram says 4.2). On the R614 resistor I'm getting 181 V in and 117 V out, then through R603 I'm getting the same 117 V in and 59.9 V out, finally getting the latter voltage in the R604 BUT getting just 1.6 V out, which is the voltage that goes on to the Gate of the Q601...

                      Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo
                      by G33RT
                      Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

                      It does power up when pressing the power button.

                      I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
                      Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

                      Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

                      Philips curling iron - is this a common AC cable?
                      by double_DD
                      Hi all,

                      Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
                      As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.

                      Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug...

                      Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV problem
                      by janos6662000
                      Hi

                      I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
                      When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
                      I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
                      From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
                      I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
                      Somewhere on the way the error got worse, because at the moment the...
