    samsung PN42A450P1D

    Hello experts..
Before I bother you with pictures from the boards,at first glance, does this look like a bad panel??
The black bar has some times colored lines in it,not always..and there is a pink glow at and around that bar...
The guy said that the kids where playing video games and all of a certain this defect popped up...

Really?? Darn, finally picked one up where the screen is not broken for a change and now it's still the panel, ugh.
Out of curiosity, what exactly "breaks" in a panel when it does like this?
Is it in the glass itself or where all the tabs are attached to the panel?

Bad panel. The chips along the bottom of the panel which drive the columns fail. They are bonded to the panel and can't be replaced. It is incredibly common with this model.

The main board and Y-main are clearly functioning and worth a fair bit for this model. Probably about $40 each. So it's not completely useless.

Ya,I'm parting it out. I got a for sale ad on this forum for all the tv's I have and I'm kinda keepin track on all the posts here to see if one needs a board I might have ( while learning as I read).
Slowly on getting a good selection of boards I can use for other tv's I pick up. It's becoming an interesting hobby lol.

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                  by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                  tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                  by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions
                  by KYBOSH
I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
