    Scorched power supply on Philips 47pfl3603d/f7 lcd tv

    I have this 47pfl3603d/f7 on the bench for a friend of mine and I've never seen a power supply or transformer on anything scorch this badly. I believe the board is toasted and not repairable so I'm looking for a new one now. My question is would it be safe to replace the board? Is it possible that something in the tv caused the failure? Personally I believe it is just because of the amount of dust on the inside either conducting current to places it shouldn't have been conducted to or simply overheated from the amount of dust.

          This is a common failure. I worked on one of these a year or so ago - same issue. I got a replacement PSU from Shopjimmy, and the TV worked fine after the board swap.

              Were the one's you worked on scorched this badly? I had to order from china on fleabay because I couldn't find anywhere in stock besides there. At a premium cost of course.

                  Yes, the transformer and board were scorched beyond replacement. That's one reason these PSUs are hard to find. ShopJimmy had a bunch of them at one point about a year ago.

                      I just had one come in with lightning damage. The P.S. # 272217100571
                      F101 a 1 amp 250v fuse open,I replaced the fuse and R5 and IC101 cracked.
                      Does anyone have a link to a free Service Manual or PS schematic?
                      New PS is 185 bucks. No one Shop Jimmy are out of stock at 100 bucks.
                      Carbon at R5 not to bad. It must be a metalized resistor. The paint burnt off and appears to be metal. The paint actually caught fire!
