Re: New problem 42hl196
check Here, its just a general search on Ebay but if its for the same model of TV it may be a fruitful search. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...board&_sacat=0
I have good news a bad news, I was able to troubleshoot and fix my tv ( a little back story: I found it on the side of the road) It looked like it was in pretty decent condition, so I undertook the task of trying to fix it, and bought the IC strw6765, it was approx 8 bucks 5.99 and 1.99 shipping.
It was a long time since I soldered since school. Unfortunately most of the devices that I have purchased in the last few years except maybe a really old phone are such integrated ICs soldering would do more harm than good. I was a little careless taking the IC out, but was so delicate putting it in, I tried separating the legs so slowly because I thought they would break off, but the hardest part was removing all the solder, my soldering iron is rated for de-soldering but using my heat gun seemed overkill.
The thickncess of the solder might have been a little against me as well but blue light came on, and I'm trying to use universal remote to sync it, then I notice the screen is cracked.
