VAD has a test point, watch the voltage while adjusting it. Yes it can be done with one buffer board only.

As for replacing the buffer chips, do you have a good source for replacement? To get them off, you need to remove the epoxy around the pins, hot-air the chip off, then re-solder the new chip. Ideally you would use a temperature regulated soldering iron.

Tom: I'm simply getting one or possibly two more SD boards, and if I can't make it work after that, then it's to the curb as a "learning experience"

Speaking of learning, could you please confirm on those test points for VAD on this model? I just have a regular (cheap) DMM, and want to make sure I test this safely and correctly as I know there are high voltages involved. Still learning how to read the schematics. Thanks.

Panasonic tx-55cx802b stuck on panel test mode.
It was working normally but few days ago some of the LED reflectors fall off.
I've opened it up carefully, re-glued, while it was open switched it on to test LEDs.
        Then carefully assembled back.
After plugging in to power remote does not work.
Using power button on the TV it turns on but gets itself into a panel testing mode: white, gradient, red, gradient, blue, gradient, green and so on switching between colours.

Anyone knows how to get out of this panel testing mode?

        I've tried so...

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
        by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

How to perform panel test on Samsung UE70TU7020K
        by learnmore
        Hello Community,

As part of an ongoing learning project, I'm trying to perfrom a panel test (where, according to some, you jump 12v to the (Tcon) then jump 3.3V to panel test pin on the FPC connector). For the model I'm testing with, I'm unsure of where the test pin is located (providing there is one). So, I'm after some help to locate it. Here are some shots of the board (note mainboard, Tcon combo board)....

        Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
        by jm1234
        Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

        Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
For my passion for technology I'm now collecting several...
