    Vizio Problem M3D650SV

A friend gave me this TV. They reimbursed him for it under extended warranty and told him to dispose of it.

It works fine except....... I only get the right half of the screen. Sometimes a quarter of the left side will play. All input modes seem to work. Removed and re-seated the ribbon cables on the t-con and inverter boards with no change. It did something funny last night. I was playing a DVD through it and the left side was still out, but then it started like "advertising" banners on the left side sorta like it was on display and telling all the features the set has.

I have did the restore defaults from the menu and all I get now is half screen. Nothing on the left. flexing the screen does not seem to bother it. I am thinking the T-Con board is bad.

Any suggestions for a newbie to LCD/LED TV??

    Thanks and great forum,
    Dusty

I'm not sure if you've solved your issue. If not, can you post a pic of the screen with the TV turned on?

Tried new T-Con board. Same picture. Any ideas appreciated.

Probably a defective panel if the t-con didn't fix it.

Any possibility that the LED DRIVER BD could be bad? The entire screen seems to light up when I turn it on. Just only shows the right half of the input signal though. I have a DMM if there any voltage/continuity checks that might be helpful.

          Thanks,

It wouldn't be such a sharp cut off if it were an LED strip problem, and you'd have no backlight on that side. LCD panel failure is becoming a very frequent occurrence nowadays, and it's very expensive to repair (whole panel swap), kinda makes me think it's deliberate.

I'd have a play with the tab bonds, but wouldn't expect any kind of permanent fix.

Checked the tabs and could not even get a flicker pressing on them. Unhooked the right side T-Con cables and it came on with a white screen all the way across. Does this info help?

                        Re: Vizio Problem M3D650SV

Update. Finally got the TV back in "retail" mode after a system reset. The built in advertisements seem to have no trouble displaying on the left side of the screen. I also have an HDMI signal going in. Could the panel still be bad even though the panel will display the ads? I am starting to think the main board has something wrong with it ?

                        Thanks,

If there is a constant picture on whole screen with advertisements on, it cannot be a panel defect. You would be wise to try a main board. However if it only intermittently shows on the whole screen, it could be a bad panel. I have seen panels that have defects on the power traces on the glass itself that are intermittent failures and almost impossible to replicate. Twisting, pressing on tabs. Nothing seems to help in that case.

I'm going with main board simply because its a Vizio and when you are getting a picture on the whole screen it looks good. I haven't seen one with this particular problem but nearly every Vizio I've had my hands on has needed a new control board.

I believe I am having a similar problem with my TV, though, my whole screen is messed up. Did a new board fix your TV? I think I have to play with repeating the cables on mine, but It could be a board problem on mine. Check out my thread if you can put in some insight.

                                  New member here,

I have a vizio m3d650sv with 3 1/2 -1 inch thick vertical lines on the left panel that are both black and colored. The panel also will leave behind traces of the original image with it taking some time for the original image to bleed away, even when turning to a black screen.

Think of it as a type of ghosting that is very slow, it doesn't seem to affect the left part of the panel.

However I noticed when unplugging the HDMI cable while a movie was playing, the blurred images remain even on a blank screen.

The vertical lines also cut off part of the channel and input info on the top right corner.

Is this a main board or TC board issue, or likely the panel is done.

                                  Thanks,
                                  -Michael

I have a M60-C3 where the left edge has started showing issues as seen in the picture attached. Along with this, I also noticed some darkening on the left half of the screen which went away after I left the TV unplugged. i initially thought it was the led backlight that was wearing out but looks like something to do w the TCONN board. I searched this forum but couldn't find anyone else seeing this issue. most of them were LH/RH completely gone. any insights or guidance is appreciated.

                                    Hi all:

I have a Vizio E60-E3 I am trying to troubleshoot a no power problem with. Thanks to the help on this board and elsewhere, I was pretty sure I had narrowed it to a power board problem. The board in question is a 09-60CAP0D0-00. Image attached for reference, but not of my board (tv is put away at the moment). FWIW, no obvious looking issues with the board.

I measured voltage at power in and on the fuse and saw 120V, so power is getting to the board.

On the pins out to the main board, I got no voltage at all on any of the pins. I assumed this...

The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

Vizio M60-C3 left side of screen + a couple other areas dim
                                    by frannyjunk
My Vizio M60-C3 was dead. No power, no lights. Just nothing. So I took the back cover off and noticed 4 bulging caps on the power supply board, so I replaced them (green low esr capacitors in the picture). The tv now works! But there are some areas that look dim (see picture). In particular, the left side has a dim band. I know that the led strips run horizontal, yet this band is vertical. Could it be that the led driver board is bad? Could the blown caps have taken out the led driver board? Or is this just a coincidence that every left side led on each strip just went out?...
