You can replace them, but they usually show visible signs of failure in these LG TVs.

      Ok I replaced both mosfets

Now the tv just clicks once on then off
      The fuse does not blow

I am going to change the ic

      See if that works

Check the VS,VA outputs when it powers up too.

Re: LG 42PC5DC plasma tv clicking on off

Is there a reason why one of the legs is not soldered on the ic?

Should I cut it off on the new one?
Can it still make a connection even if it is not soldered?

It's not used. Don't solder it.

Re: LG 42PC5DC plasma tv clicking on off

                The tv works! !

After I installed the ic it came right on

There is a noticeable buzzing coming from the back of the tv
Its right at the top left corner of the panel
But it's nothing to worry about i think

The picture does look somewhat grainy but thats probably because it is an older model

I did notice that when you change the channel there is red snow
Also when the picture displays when watching a channel if you put your face close to the screen you can see the red snow
Its not really noticeable when something is on but I noticed it

Re: LG 42PC5DC plasma tv clicking on off

The snow is the notorious mal-discharge that LGs exhibit on occasion. If it goes away as the TV warms, the panel is the issue. Otherwise, you can adjust some of the voltages to diminish or sometimes eliminate it (rare that it's totally eliminated), or the logic board has to be flashed.

Re: LG 42PC5DC plasma tv clicking on off

Well I left the tv on for a few hours to see if any other issues come up

I will update as soon as I get back home to see if the red snow goes away after it has warmed up

But I did notice another issue
I believe it does have a bad panel
There is some light burn in from the menu screen
But that is not what I noticed
im not sure if it is related to the burn in but it looks like a cloud on the left side of the panel when the screen is black
Hopefully you can see the issue in the pic and see what I am talking about

The tv is on and I shut off the lights in the room

For some reason the red led is onbut should be green

Re: LG 42PC5DC plasma tv clicking on off

Ok the tv has been on for a few hours now

The red snow has turned into red, blue and green snow only when I change the channels

Also I noticed if I leave it on a channel longer then 5 minutes it takes about 15-20 seconds to change to another channel when I press the button on the remote
The screen goes black and then it finally goes to next channel

Any ideas on both these issues?

Check the panel voltages. Is your TV a PDP42X2,42X2A, 42X3A or 42X4A?

                        ^guide for adjusting the voltages

Slight buzzing is normal -- when case is installed the buzzing should be inaudible from normal viewing distance (6ft or more.)

Tom did I damage the panel?

I followed the instructionson page 49
Everything was in pretty much in spec
I did make small adjustments to va and vs but barely any thing

                                    Before adjustment
                                    Vs: 189.6
                                    Va: 59.5

                                    After adjustment per label
                                    Vs: 190.0
                                    Va: 60.0

Once I got to the y board
                                    I only adjusted the -Vy

                                    Before adjustment
                                    -144.4

                                    After adjustment per label
                                    -144.5
The label calls out for -145 but I turned the pot all the way up and down
But the reading only changed from 144.4 to 144.5 in either direction
Is there something wrong with the y board?

                                        Yea I figured it out
I turned back the -Vy pot
                                        I got the picture back

This is the pot that did not mske any difference if I went all the way up or down

That is because that is the SET DN pot not the -Vy pot. -Vy is elsewhere.

I gotten a Carver CM-1090 amplifier from a friend who has kept it in storage for decades. Opened it up, thick layer of dust cumulated everywhere. Vacuumed it semi-cleaned, and blown off as much as possible the remaining dust. This is a 220V version.

On initial powered up with nothing connected - it works with all the lights and button indicator lit up as pressed, etc. I then powered off, connected a CD player into the CD RCA input and powered it on. It seemed to work for a short while and when I turned the volume up and down to see the the VUs works, the power started to clicked off...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

Argon SA1 audio amplifier power-supply - fuse blown after fixing the short?
                                            by Babbar
I found a project in the electronics trash yesterday. A nice Argon SA1 audio amp with some electrical issue. Took it apart and saw that the 4A250V fuse was blown so started lifting components to find the short. Eventually got to two MOSFETs (model FTA14N50C) that are shorted and when i took them out the short was gone.

Now i didn't have any replacements of the same model of course but i found a couple with pretty similar spec i thought (K10A60D & K12A50D) and put them in. Also replaced the blown fuse with a 3.5A250V one. Checked another time for short circuit and plugged it in....

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                                            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                                            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Hello, I bought this Mac from a friend, he said that it simply stop working. The MacBook looks very clean but does not power on, stuck on 5v 0.42A, and sometimes display 5V and 0A (then 0.071A and again 0A).

I opened it looking for some problem, it was not touched before for sure and the board is very clena, no spot of corrosion at all from what I can see. Voltage on multimeter of the board off the case it's the same, 5V 0.42A. But then I noticed this "clicking sound" come from the board ( I attached here the audio file).

Looking on google I found this:...
