I have a samsung plasma a co-worker brought in to me after finding out I've fixed a few other TV's. He was going to throw it out otherwise so I figured why not have a look.
He said it made a quick hiss/buzz when it went out.
At this point I think I have the problem board isolated but I want to confirm before buying any parts.
The tv when plugged in would turn itself on.
When powered up, there were tons of lines and artifacts over most of the screen. More on the top of the screen, some of it would come and go, but never went away. Mixed colors.
After checking voltages and getting back what I should it left me a little confused.
I had a look at this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjrwTZC5nVg
And gave the process a shot, i put a jumper from a cdrom on the logic board.
And shorted pson to gnd.
The tv is now up an running the test patterns and looks great. No lines, no problems.
Can I safely assume that the main board is the problem here.
