    Samsung LNT4069FX

I found a new project! picked this up this am for $50. anyone have any experience with known issues with this TV. can't start on this one till beginning of august. company from fla until next week, then I'm driving, returning the fla peeps to Deltona!

    from the owner:
    1. Only problem is the picture. There is sound and a backlight. No damages.

after asking a few questions, he said this:

    2. Some days it works fine. But most days you turn it on then it flickers and go out. You will hear sound but the picture never returns.

I'll find out more once I can open it up and try it myself.

also, have a chance on the following two 32" TV's that are only 720P.

    Sharp LC 32SB24U
Symptoms: the tv turns on for maybe about two to three minutes and the screen goes completely black, no sound or picture and it doesn't come back. I had to factory reset it in order to get the picture back and then the screen goes black again and the indicator light on the bottom blinks green the whole time.

    Dynex L32-10A

    Owner said:

The TV is in great shape, when you try to power the TV on, the red light flashes. And yes it was working perfectly fine before it went out.

both are about 4 years old. what do you think?

    Thanks to everybody,

    frank

Best to keep the TVs in separate threads, and in my opinion maximum two projects at any one time. Sharp > Dynex esp. if LCD is visibly working.

Common fault with this Samsung is blown T-con fuse.

      Tom66,

Thanks Tom on the heads up for the Samsung T-con fuse. sorry about including the other two TV's within the thread. I was hoping to see if they were worth $35 and $30 to repair before I commited to buying them. I wasn't sure of their value and quality as they are only 720P. I'm looking forward to working on the Samsung. I have to get rid of my house guests, it's been almost 4 weeks of company!

      Thanks,

      frank

        Re: Samsung LNT4069FX

I have no trouble at all selling 32" 720p sets, but they only go for around £80 to £100 here, which is around US$120 to $150, so it may not be worth your time.

          Tom66,

thanks Tom, I'll have to ponder the 32's. If I knew I could keep the cost of repair under $100, I may go for it. I'm not doing the repairs for money. I would do it for a family member, friend or myself. if I did get one of the 32's I would just offer it to someone I feel would like it and use it.

          Thanks,

          frank

              Re: Samsung LNT4069FX

Possible Tcon fault on Samsung, that or it could be the panel. (Check if there's any corrosion on the ribbon cables on the tcon leading to the panel.)

For the sharp have you tried the flash light trick when it goes off to see if theres a faint picture on screen? I had a sharp with a bad inverter board and for some reason the sound wouldn't play along with it.

The Dynex, could be a possible power supply issue, but that model is mostly known for a bad main board.

I don't touch the cheap brands (eg. Dynex). I also wouldn't waste time on a 32" 720p TV. Working 32" TVs are selling for less than $120 in my area.

Thnaks for the input guys, appreciate it. I haven't purchased the dynex or sharp yet, I was wondering if it was worth the effort. I think you've answered my question.

anyone with a link to the service manual for the samsung?

                  Thanks a bunch,

I'll probably have a power board schematic and maybe a main board one, but no SM. You'll need the BN44 and BN96 codes for power and main board to get schematics.

                      Tom66,

OK Tom, Thanks. like I said, I probably won't start on this until early august. I'll have a better feel for the TV when I get my hands on it and actually view the symptoms for myself.

                      apprectiate the input,

                      thanks,
