Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
I'm not sure if this is fixable, other than leaving it in Standard. Mine had green on Movie, even after reset, yours appears blue. If you want, you can swap the main board, which should fix it, but it doesn't seem like a major issue. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. I would CHANGE the EEPROM, as I don't trust shorting SDA and SCL lines fully.
It's simple and cheap.Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Hey everyone,
I have a LE40R86WD as well and it also has the "turn on / turn off clicking problem".
I saw that two capacitors are broken and replaced them.
But the TV still has the problem. When I plug it in, it only tries to turn on but turns off again immediately.
I've tried shorting the EEPROM (not with soldering two wires but by taping a wire against those two pins) but it didn't make a difference. It continues to turn on/ turn off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Ok never mind it worked at the 4th time or so.
There was no more clicking. And it just stayed in standby.
But I didn't manage to get into the reset menu. I don't have a control for the TV, only my HTC One smartphone which can act as a remote (but doesn't have the info key).Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
You need a remote control which can do the info-menu-mute-power sequence to reset it, go down to the local dollar-store (or equivalent) and buy a universal remote which does Samsung TVs. Most do.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Thanks for the answer, I got a replacement remote from a store nearby but it doesn't seem to work.
When the EEPROM is short circuited the tv only tried to start and after a bit of time it goes to standby again. It never displays anything.
The info-menu-mute-power sequence with the remote didn't work, not sure if it's the remote though.
I've ordered a new EEPROM now and will try to replace it when it arrives.Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Did you have the shorting jumper in place while doing that? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Yes, I tried the steps you described on the first page (how to reset the EEPROM) with and without shorting the jumper.
Without shorting it, it just clicks and continuously restarts.
With the EEPROM shorted: I would plug it in, it would try to start and fail to do so. After a while it would click and go to standby. No matter if I pressed the info-menu-mute-power sequence or only the power button, it would only try to start but fail to do so and go back to standby.
But I've ordered an EEPROM and an original remote (the other one was one of those "universal replacement remotes") and hope it will work with those. Not sure if I'll be able to solder the EEPROM properly though, seems really small.Last edited by hanssome; 07-16-2013, 04:43 PM.Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Hi again,
I've replaced the EEPROM now.
The TV doesn't really work though,
It will turn on and start but without displaying anything on the screen. The backlight is off.
If I leave it running it goes to standby after a few minutes.
Accessing the service menu with info-menu-mute-power doesn't work.
Any ideas what the cause of that might be?Last edited by hanssome; 07-22-2013, 04:27 PM.Comment

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
Did you use a blank eeprom, or one programmed for the LE40R86?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Problem with Samsung LE40R86WD
I'm pretty sure that's blank -- you'd need a programmer and someone with the right file, or order one pre programmed. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by howardc64Fixed a 9 year old UN55JU650 by replacing backlight. Original backlight LED was still working after 27k! hours but terrible picture of course. Few LEDs were out, 5-6 lens fell off (bright white spots) and another few popped off with slightest force. Surviving LEDs were all slightly blue so picture has a blue tint.

Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power... -

I got the tv in spring 2024. At that time it started, then ran 60 sec and poweroff. Seemed like reboot issue. I didn't have time and room to check it in summer so I plugged it in and now the standby light is on. I press button on remote, standby light goes off and tries to start?. No picture or backlight on LCD. I thought about removing diodes like in this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...sung-qled-q60r... - Loading...
