I'm going to be picking up a PN51D450A2D on Monday. The guy said it stopped working from a lightning storm. He said no power led comes on but you can hear relays click when you plug power cable into it. I'm thinking maybe main board if I'm not lucky enough for it to be caps. What do you all think. Or could it still be the power board.

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
My guess would be a power supply problem. -
Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
I acquired a PN58B650 that had stopped working after power surge. After diagnosis, main board replacement was the fix. Process is described here:

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
The reason I thought it might be a power supply problem in this case is that you don't appear to have standby power.Comment

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
it could be either (or both)! check to see if you have standby voltage going to your main to start.
also check all fuses and go from there.WHY CAN'T PHILIPS USE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREWS?Comment

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
So I picked the tv up yesterday and I got really lucky. I found another tv exact same model for sale to that was on my way back from tv number 1. This one had a cracked screen. So the first tv I bought for 70 more then I like to spend and the other I bought for 15. So I should be good on parts hopefully.Comment

sounds like a plan, and you might end up with a board or two to either keep or sell!

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
Ok ladies am gentleman got both tv's paid a total of 85 for both and I first swapped the main board cause the power controls are plugged in there and it fired right up. So I got a bunch of parts left from the donor tv now and a working Pn51d450a2d now. I'm just debating now if I wanna replace my 50in plasma at home with this one. The one I got at home now is a 720 as well but it's from 07 or 08. I'm just scared to put this new tv there cause I'm afraid of my kids breaking it since the screens on new samsungs are thinner. But of not I got a good profit to makeComment

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
What model is your old 50"?
Personally I'd never use a Samsung 4-series PDP because they have poor reliability.

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
I don't know the model of the top of my head. It's from 07-08. But thanks for the advise about the reliability of the samsung. I am kinda weiry cause of how easy the screens crack va the Panasonic I have now. I know its a 50 inch viera. But I don't know model off the top of my head. I have had it since brand new and no issues what so ever.Comment

Any kind of Panasonic Viera will blow out a 4-series Samsung. I'd only ever use 6-, 7-, or 8-series Samsung, but they are a lot more expensive. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
Good to know. It has the same specs except for maybe an extra hdmi and the 600htz vs 60htz I think. But I just I hired it would be more energy efficient and put off less heat. But if you all are saying keep the Panasonic even though those things and cause its thicker and heavier I will.Comment

Re: PN51D450A2D no power no sound
Also can anyone tell me if this is something wrong with the tv or if its normal. The samsung when the tv is on and it's in between channels it seems like the back light kinda flickers but when there is a picture on the screen it doesn't flicker at all. I'm just wondering before I sell it cause I got extra parts for it if I have to swap it out.Comment

Because LCD mfgs like to specify "120Hz" and "240Hz" plasma manufacturers competed with "600Hz" but there's no difference to a 60Hz plasma. (But a 60Hz plasma will perform better than a 240Hz LCD due to the inherent blur in the LCD.)
Flickering on dark screens may be due to energy saving, maybe reducing black level?Last edited by tom66; 07-11-2013, 08:25 AM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
