I have a Sharp LC42D43U-42, that has no picture but has sound. Read somewhere that it may be the main board so we switched it out, now the tv comes on, blank screen, green power light and green opc. We read that maybe we need to upload the software for the new main board, but can't find anywhere to download the software so that we can perform the upload to the new main board. Does anyone know where we could find that? Also what is the thought that the main board was not the problem, and that it was the backlight inverter? Prior to changing the main board the tv would come on gray and fade to black, no picture what so ever. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

If the TV had sound I would be considering inverter or T-con. Was the screen lit up with old board? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sharp Aquos LC42D43U-42 Has Sound but No Picture
Thanks for the quick reply. The picture before the main board was changed was gray fading to black. Now with the new main board, the screen stays lit, more of a dark blue than gray or black, but still no picture. We did switch the inverter, but switched it back, as the one we received we got off ebay and it looked burnt.Comment

Sounds like a t-con or panel issue. Can you post pictures of inside your TV?Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sharp Aquos LC42D43U-42 Has Sound but No Picture
It takes more work to remove the outside frame . Just cut the black plastic cover
the board then hair dryer to the board . It makes some affect the tab bond ribbon to see any change on screen. Then you know what is the culprit.Comment

I have a 26" Sanyo (rebadge) using a Chimei panel, which has tab bond issues. Sometimes all you will get is a dark (no image), lit up screen, with a dark blue tint. Other times you'll get a faded light grey screen which slowly changes colour.
Different fault. Same cause and fix:

Re: Sharp Aquos LC42D43U-42 Has Sound but No Picture
It would be one thing to check, as the symptoms are similar to other tab bond faults. Sharp panels (like in your Sharp TV) rarely have tab bond faults though. Not unheard of, but rare. Since the swap of the main board changed the symptoms, I would not rule out a main board fault. Possibly the replacement main board is bad too, given they are usually pulls from scrapped TVs.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

I would doubt this to be the case, but was the board from the exact same model? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Sharp Aquos LC42D43U-42 Has Sound but No Picture
It was suppose to be for the same exact model, and was suppose to be brand new unused. The part numbers on the board say the same part numbers, but what I have read online says this board may need software updated after installation.Comment

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... -
by jchangHi all
I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.
Symptom:
No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
No sound at all.
What I tried:
1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon... -
