    Vizio e470vl help

    Let me apologize in advance or the fact that I can't post hi res pictures as I don't have a camera just a poor cell phone.

    More to the point a friend gave me a 47" vizio e470vl, story being that he plugged in his PS3 with the HDMI already plugged into the TV and popped a breaker in his house. When he reset the breaker his direct TV box, and the TV both would not work.
    He says the orange/amber light flashed once but never came back on only when it got plugged in.

    Anyway free TV, I'm a computer geek, I can probably fix this. Come here read some.
    Tested the voltage regulators, all say 0, tested the plug(s) in the upper right hand power supply board and all read 0 even the 3 5v standby plugs only read .01 volts.

    Does the whole board need replaced or is there something else I'm missing here? Also I'm testing with a fluke 322 digital multimeter (I'm a mechanic by trade so I happen to have a decent multimeter). Is there something else I can check to be 100% sure? I don't want to replace a PS board and have the main board be bad too

    Sorry for the long winded post.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    If you are getting 0V on the 5V standby pin, check the main fuse. A good fuse will measure less than 1.0 ohms. If the fuse is good, then measure the DC voltage across the large main filter capacitor. It should be AC mains x 1.414. For example if you are 120V AC x 1.414 = 169.68V DC.

            Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
            I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

            Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

            I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

            The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

            With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

            Vizio E470VL got +5VSB, but no 12V
            by Bugman1400
            EDITED: I thought my Vizio E470VL has +5VSB and no 12v on the PS board, but after plugging the cable back in and testing the pins on the Main board I realized that I do have 12V. I assume the 12V is turned on when the ON/OFF switch is pressed. The Vizio light in front does go from Standby Orange to White when ON. But, I still have no picture or sound. Test values of PS board are below.

            +5VSB= +5.09
            12V= +12.18
            PS_ON= +2.25
            I_ON/OFF= +3.27
            LAMP= +3.18
            DIM= +2.97

            Any more testing I can do on Main board or is it just a replacement?...

            Razor Blade Steath 13" RZ09-01963 plugged in Not Charging (new battery)
            by Shinju
            Hey All!

            Long time forum member here with a problematic laptop issue!

            I got a RZ09-0196 with a bloated battery (still worked and charged fine) I pulled the old cell pack out and installed a new cell pack in its place.

            The laptop would not power on with the new battery installed without the power supply being plugged in.

            When booting into Win10 (all up to date BTW) I saw the battery icon with 49% plugged in not charging.

            TL;Dr version, old battery worked, charged but was bloated, installed a new non OEM replacement, laptop/windows...

            Vizio TV E470VL SMPS Flucuation Output Voltage
            by dholley
            Would someone please help troubleshoot a Vizio 47" TV Switch Mode Power Supply with 5 volt output fluctuating voltage. The voltage fluctuates at 5 the volt output and at the Pulse Switch Modulating IC at VCC. I have the following notes:

            1. The 3 main filter caps all have approximately 167 volts steady
            2. I have replaced 4 mosfets next to what I think is called the inventor transformer (big black transformer) pictures attached
            3. I have replaced Fuse F102 with an equivalent
            4. I have check all diodes and caps and they seem to be ok
            5. I replaced the 431...

            Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
            by howardc64
            Failure Symptom

            No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

            Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

            Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
