I am new to this site and a apologize in advance if this has been asked a 100 times. But I have a proscan 42" LCD #42la30h tv and the problem I am having is when I turn the tv on the screen comes on the goes black but can see the picture with a flashlight up close to the screen. All the capacitors visually look good and I am getting 24.9 volts to both my inverter boards from the power supply. So has both of my inverter boards gone bad? I am not to tv repair savvy but would like to save some money from buying a new tv. Thanks

Re: Proscan turns on then screen goes black
You may have a bad inverter, or two. You may also have one or more burnt out CCFL's. Check this out if you haven't already.

Re: Proscan turns on then screen goes black
Thanks I read a little bit of the posts on here, the tv was on for a little bit yesterday and I ran a self check and all the bulbs looked to be lighting up (had no weird black lines, fading, or shadows,) now it's back to the same thing comes on them screen goes black, really didn't want to replace the inverters (as I feel this particular tv does not deserve that kinda money put into it) but my end up having to go that route

Re: Proscan turns on then screen goes black
Didn't visually see any bad caps but when I pulled the power supply board off I seen that it looked that all the caps have been replaced (due to solder marks)(I did get this tv used) now after I plug everything back in I can watch the tv for about 3 min each time of unplugging and plugging the board back in then the screen goes black to where you can only see the picture with a flashlight. Any idea of what is going on? I am leaning towards a power supply board but I am still getting the same voltages out to my inverter boards and main board as I am when the tv is working correctly.

Re: Proscan turns on then screen goes black
There is a known flickering issue with this TV that is corrected by replacing the 390uF capacitor at location C809 on the power supply, but it doesn't sound like you're having this exact issue.
I would try some cold spray (one of my favorite techniques) on the inverters to see if you can get the TV to stay on longer. This would narrow your issue down to the inverter(s)...or NOT the inverters. If you know someone who's good at soldering, you could try installing this repair kit on each of the inverters. I believe these are your inverter part numbers - please compare: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6632L-0448A-...item19c3911f6e
I'm not sure of your definition of "cheap", but here's a set of new inverters: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6632L-0448A-...item19d2ed52e7
You may have some interchangeability options, also. See "These TV Parts Also Work": http://www.shopjimmy.com/new-lg-6632...ter-master.htmLast edited by capkid; 05-28-2013, 02:20 AM.
