    TV/DVD Combined Generic Question

    Hi

I have come across quite a few and I suppose alot of you have come across 00's.

My question is about those delicate/temperamental DVD players that wont read discs, the motor for the DVD/CD sounds like it struggles to get to speed

I have read a couple of other forums and tried

a: Altering the DVD pot on the laser
b: Getting a voltage supply and connecting it to the motor and spinning it both ways for a few minutes(I have had mixed results with this method)

Apart from buying a second hand one off flebay (that will probably pack up in 2 weeks) Is there a more permanent fix for these things??

    Cheers

A lot of these DVD drives fail due to defective motors. I do not know why, but a lot are appearing recently, so it must be a big problem. Drives may be marked as used but they may have been harvested from shipping damaged TVs?

They are in a word "crap" nearly everyone you see nowdays it has remarks like "DVD player struggles to read discs" etc etc, changing just the motor would be a nightmare, then you have to get the right one at the right price.

The 22inch are getting more problematic, screen issues, mains, inverters and now more and more DVD faults, yet more "Turkish Delight",,,looks great from the outside, tastes like crap when you bite into it

Ah, Vestel. 'tis a Joy and a Pleasure to work on one.

Who am I kidding. The day that company goes bankrupt will be a celebration for me; however, I see that as being unlikely, especially given the likes of Toshiba and Sharp have started re-badging their rubbish TVs.

I found a supplier yesterday in Poland that sells new motors for £1.75per piece have ordered 5 to see if they work, it is an easy job to replace them too.

Will report back if they are any good with postage/time and more importantly if they work

In other news Turkey is experiencing a little internal instability so perhaps Vestel will have to temporarily stop production. One can hope.
