Sony KLV-40V550A Blinks 8 times

Hi all.
I'm Henry from South Africa, I have a problem with my bravia tv.
The model is KLV-40V550A.
A hdmi port got burned on the mainboard due to a powersurge and now tv don't switch on. It only blinks 8 times when switched on.
I removed burned port, but still the same code.
I can't see any other damage to boards.

Any help will really be appreciated.

My guess is, if the surge damaged the port, it probably took out that SONY HDMI receiver IC which connects to all the other ports. That would likely require a new main board, as that receiver IC is not available commercially, due to the patented/secret decryption algorithms. It's probably pulling down one of the power supplies due to internal shorts. You can see if removing it works, but I'd expect it to throw some kind of other error -- initializing HDMI problems or something like that.

Great to hear. If you need to use HDMI on your TV, then purchase one of these HDCP strippers: http://www.hdfury.com/products/hdfuryiii-specs/

It'll give you component or VGA output, and completely eliminates the pointless encryption that HDMI uses. (The encryption is used to stop copying of blu-ray and other content. However, it was broken within a year of release by adapters like this, and now is essentially useless. It just adds to the cost of making a TV or blu-ray player now as the patent fees have to be paid, and the chips have to be a lot more complex.)

I have same model tv and blinks 8 times, according to manual its audio fault, can you please help me fix the BU board, i'm ready to remove audio ic if it can solves my problem as buying new bd board in my country (India) is very expensive and is not practical

Check the DCV at the speaker connector to see if it shows DC at one or both speakers (keep the Volume at 0), if it does then the Class D power amp IC is bad.
