Need Help Identifying an HDMI Chip on Vizio LCD TV

I have repaired a few Vizio LCD TV'S, I gave one 42" Vizio to a family member and it works great with the exception of both HDMI Ports not working at all, I have an old defective Mainboard from a 37" Vizio that had a problem with the main processor chip (re-flow gone bad) but when it was working the HDMI Ports did work on that board

Looking at the pictures (shown here) I have of both boards I can see an 8 pin IC Chip just above each HDMI Port but can't really see the part numbers on the chips, I'm wondering if anyone knows if these chips are what usually go bad and if they could possibly be the same parts on the two different boards, so maybe I could pull the good ones and use them on the 42" that has the non-working HDMI Ports.

I have read some other threads that say these chips can not be purchased due to copyright or something like that. Your comments are appreciated.

Try cleaning the top of the chip with some isopropyl alcohol.

Try taking a very close up picture of it with macro mode enabled on the camera and then view the picture on a computer. Lots of sunlight will help get a clear picture.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Re: Need Help Identifying an HDMI Chip on Vizio LCD TV

The chip is an EDID EEPROM and only stores the resolutions and modes that the TV supports for computers and attached devices. Failure should not cause a loss of HDMI video. You can see the differential pairs leading into the large heatsinked processor, where all of the magic with the HDMI happens. If there is a fault, it will likely be with that processor, and it would be difficult to find a replacement. There's a small chance that the HDMI mux is failed, if it uses one, but again, that would be hard to find a replacement for.

Thanks Tom, I guess I'll have to replace the Main Board if I really want to fix the HDMI, otherwise it has a great picture but no High Definition.

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
          by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Need help identifying an IC chip on a Bush DAB radio (BD-1801)
          by tyler123456
          Hi,

Not sure whether anyone can help but I'm trying to identify the IC chip in the photo below.

I purchased a faulty Bush DAB radio (model # BD-1801) and identified that an IC chip was blown on it. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the manufacturer name / model number of the IC chip.

I purchased another (working) BD-1801 so that I could open it up to find out the IC details - but the IC chip details are missing (as you can see in the photo.)

Given the two huge blobs of solder either side of it I'm guessing it regulates power(?)

          Anyone...

Help Identifying this chip - 324
          by cook
See the attached drawing of the chip I am trying to identify. I think the last character (the 'H') may actually be the manufacturer logo, but I am not sure.

This chip is part of a hand held device that detects metal. Its called a pinpointer, and is used in the metal detecting community. The chip is located on the main power rail which is from a 9 volt battery, noted in the drawing.

I tried many searches to find the part, but did not see anything that looked close. But then I have very little experience doing this and I could have easily missed something obviou...

          Anthem MRX500 - no sound

          Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

Acer e15-e5-576g-5762 bricked. Bios chip won't interface in AsProgrammer.
          by inck243
Thanks for any help. The board version is DAZAARMB6E0 REV: E. The bios chip is winbond 25Q64JVSIQ1736. W25Q64JV is not available in AsProgrammer -- only BV CV FV or FW_1.8c. The chip won't interface with asProgrammer and a CH341A. When I have this chip on the board, the laptop will not post but when I plug it in to power, the blue LED lights up, also the orange when the battery is connected. When I push the power on button, keyboard backlight turns on and the fan starts briefely then turns off. But I can't do anything to program this bios chip so I bought another one.

          The BIOS...
