Samsung 40C5000QF intermittent won't power on

This Samsung LCD goes through spurts where it won't power on, just clicks.
Then it'll be fine for a while.

I figured it'll just be a recap, but it's one of those super slim TVs, with long skinnySamwah caps.

What's a good source for replacement caps in this form-factor?

I wouldn't immediately consider bad capacitors.
Have you checked the PSU voltages when it will and won't power up?

No, I haven't done anything other than take the back off since it arrived.
      Haven't even plugged it in.
House-full of people to feed today so won't get at it 'till Monday or Tuesday.

I assumed caps because the symptom is the same as the poster child for the Samsung bad caps class action lawsuit.

But in those instances the capacitors almost always bulged; I'll bet yours haven't?

I remember seeing some United Chemi-con long skinny caps in another picture and it looks like they have 2 possible series that might work?

Re: Samsung 40C5000QF intermittent won't power on

OK, did some testing. Of course it behaves fine on the bench.
Got some more details from "the customer"he says it randomly powers itself off, then back on, and sometimes stays off and won't power on, just clicks.

Voltages on the power supply look good, maybe a hair high 5.3v 12.8v
Voltage regulators on the main boardhave good outputs well within spec.

For grins I measured the larger electrolytics on the power supply board. They're all in pairs in parallel, so not really too valid a test, but got readings that looked normal.

I'm tempted to give it back and tell him to bring it back to me when it fails and stays failed

                  Intermittent problems are always difficult.

I have an ATX power supply (it was under warranty) that was intermittent. Now it is finally failed, but the form factor and tight spacing makes it virtually impossible to troubleshoot.

Indeed that's what I'm doing. Giving it back to "the customer" and he'll let me know if/when it fails for good.

Look for cracked solder connections on all the small transformers. Common problem on these Samsung thin TV power boards. But you may have a main board thats acting up.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        by PantherDave
                        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...
