Reset: Hold the TV's Vol Down button and press the Menu button on remote. Should go into a self check and display any SOS error codes in red. Remove AC power or press and hold the TV's power button in for 5 secs, TV will power off and back on. Should now be at open box condition.

The software update is for the PDP logic board to correct sparkle problems, not the main board V-chip software. LG has a USB jig for authorized LG servicers to update the logic board.
I would recommend you call around your area for a LG warranty servicer and see if they have the jig and can do the upgrade.Leave a comment:

A-1778-906-A is from the Sony service manual for your model. The boards from Sony does not come with software installed. Make sure you have the latest software on hand when you install the replacement board. Also the USB stick must be formatted in FAT32.Leave a comment:

Barry can you post a picture? RF interference is a problem on older CRT TV's receiving analog signals, not very common on todays digital TV's. See if your problem shows up on the digital channels or input a DVD signal. Most likely it is a failure on the plasma panel.Leave a comment:

From your video, you showed the cracked glass. That is the PDP panel, there is no front glass on this model. The resistors with low ohms are most likely reading other parts in parallel. Resistors when bad will burn open or increase in resistance, they do not short out or go lower in resistance.
Basically your options are to scap out the boards and sell them, or find another same model that may need just a board.Leave a comment:

Have you had the cable box replaced? Samsung replaced the main and power boards, theres nothing left in the TV that would cause your problem. You might double check that the TV has the latest software. Most likely the cable box is the problem.Leave a comment:
