    Goodmans LD3265D2

    Hi everyone,

I have a faulty Goodmans LD3265D2 LCD TV that is powered by a dreaded VESTEL 17PW26-1 V1 PSU...

My fault symptoms are as follows:

Tv once in a million moons will power on fine (1 out of 2000)
TV Mostly just flashes the blue LED without pattern
Sometimes the TV will show a solid blue LED saying its in standby... when I try to power the unit up the backlight flashes briefly then goes back to the solid blue LED standby state.

My knoweledge of electronics is basic but I have got into the TV and visually checked all caps and looked for any obvious cold solder joints but all look good.

I am assuming it is a faulty PSU and have one on order but thought I'd get some opinions off you guys (especially tom) to see what you think.

I also removed the driver board to PSU cable and plugged the tv in... The backlight flashes then goes off, flashes then goes off in a repeated pattern... If I short the BL_ON off pin 8 the backlight stops flashing.

    Any ideas?

    Replace two 15nF caps C877, C878.

Hi tom thanks for the reply.

I cannot find C877 and C878 is the rectangular component coded MMKP82?

Can we see a picture of the chassis? It may be different...

I've worked on the LD3265 (no "D2") so I am wondering what the major differences are.

Not your fault, confusion here, I believe. Flat tv parts have pics. Search for psu no, not model. Have researched it only for short time. Have new 17pw26-5 in front of me. Different psu. I do know where you are coming from though. Maybe I am wrong.

D893/d881 is common fault, usually goes s/c. There is some information on this psu, badcaps forum page 39, at this moment in time.

Just had a look back and from the last 4 I have done it was exactly that, only 2 where the fets had blown and that would give you different symptoms, out of the vestel range I do, dare I say it "like" the 26...easy money when that diode fails

                      Re: Goodmans LD3265D2

The Goodmans ld3265d1 uses 17pw20 series psu. Goodmans model ld3265d2 uses 17pw26 series psu. They are completely different psu's. Your psu is newer and larger. Measures 22cm x 15cm. Last vestel tv I repaired, similar psu to yours was a Celcus. It was stuck in standby. Repaired it by replacing main board. As you have already ordered psu, you will soon find out if you got it right or not. I hope you are lucky. Ron77

                        Thanks for the replies guys...

                        Here is a picture tom...

So do my symptoms go towards the main board or PSU?

By the looks of the PSU it has been repaired and by checking it against schematics some of the caps are different ratings... The psu is also whining when live and clicks and buzzes. Dont know if that helps.

When you say different ratings do you mean voltage or farads ie

Have they put 35v where 25v have been or have they put 220uf where 470uf's should go

one of the 470uf has been replaced with a 47uf cap... thats got to bugger things up right?

Also noticed a few other things.. looks like someone with no know how has done this board in an attempt at repair... Pin 2 of IC830 which according to the diagrams is the protection circuit has been severed :s

Id change the cap straight away for the right one, Have you got a picture of the underside of the board? Has it blown the leg off the IC

Dont think im gonna check anything else as to what i can tell its got to be the PSU that is indeed shot.

Here is a pic of the reverse side and of the IC that indeed has a leg blown.

Dont see any point in repairing it as have one on order and should be here tomorrow.

Would you agree it is the PSU that is dead with all of that?
