Seems fine then. It's pretty much guaranteed to be t-con or panel, sadly, I think something on the panel is knackered. Can you get hold of a can of freeze spray?

Yes it stays on 12v. Where do you think I should look next or do you think I should just give up?

Try freezing one tab bond or the other and see if it immediately gets better.

That's a negative, absolutely no change when either of the tabs was frozen. The only thing that cures it is disconnecting the t-con then reconnecting. The hue doesn't come back straight away but takes the same time as if starting from cold.

It's a shame the T-con can't be replaced. Does any other part on the T-con respond to freezing?

No I have tried each component and there is no joy. I know you say you cant replace the T-con but I wouldn't mind giving it a go. Don't suppose you know what soldering technique they use to attach it to the panel?

Not a matter of it being worth it -- it's simply impossible without the equipment, sadly. Now, they COULD make the connectors removable (the density is low enough for that to be OK), but they don't.

Why doesn't current just bypass faulty capacitors.
                            by Spudgun
Hello esteemed members. I appreciate that my question will strike some as being somewhat childishly simple, but it genuine perplexes me! I have repaired several laptops before by removing a faulty capacitor that was short-circuiting the motherboard, whereupon the laptop would then work. For me, it begs the question that, if the current can bypass where the capcitor was when it has been removed, why didn't it just bypass it when it was present and faulty,? I can't get my head round the premise that if the other side of the capacitor is connected to ground, then why doesn't the current simply bypass...

Acer A317-53 need help to disable faulty onboard ram
                            by b-slayer
                            Hello.
I have an Acer Aspire A317-53 laptop with faulty onboard ram modules, after online searches, I have only found two options to get it working :
                            - first one is to modify le bios to disable the onboard ram.
                            - second one is to disable the onboard ram by desoldering some components on the mainboard.

so after some hours google-ing, i have to give-up the modified bios option, main reason is I couldn't find anywhere a such modified Bios, alternate reason is that if windows update makes a bios update, the problem is always here...

so i found that my motherboard...

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
                            by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

GTX 1660 Ti: Missing GPU Details & Abnormal Behavior - Possible Faulty IC?
                            by lolich112
                            Hello everyone,

I've been encountering some perplexing issues with my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC and am seeking insights or potential solutions from the community.

                            Symptoms:

Initially experienced a gradient-style black screen from the top.
Poor performance: ~10 FPS on the lock screen.
Encountered artifacts followed by black screens.
After addressing a PSU-related problem, still observed a performance drop (~10 FPS).
                            Upon using GPU-Z:
                            Memory size shows as 0MB.
Unknown bus width and bandwidth reported....

Faulty memory slot on Tekram Slot 1 motherboard
                            by Byte_76
I have a Tekram P6PRO-A5 Rev. 1.01 which has an issue with one of the memory slots and with the floppy port.

When a memory module is installed into the slot which is closest to the north bridge, the board will beep and won't post. The same memory module works in the two remaining slots.

Also, the floppy drive does not work regardless of bios settings.

Please help me to identify the possible cause of the faulty memory slot and the floppy drive port as well.

I have examined the board under my digital microscope and did not find any broken traces....
