Sharp 37" LCD Panel 5 Volt Failure

I have the following error code: POWER LED 2, OPC LED 5. In a post from June of last year a forum member indicated that this would represent a Panel 5 volt failure.

How do I repair a Panel 5 volt failure? I have a 37" Aquos that fell off a shelf. I have replaced a broken power board and two CCFL backlights. I checked the backlights before closing up the unit and they were all working. The TV comes on, gives me the error code, I do a reset, the power light no longer blinks, then can get the audio to work and backlights to work but no picture.

Do you get a 5V volt failure if the T-con is unplugged?
The t-con goes from the main board to the LCD panel connectors itself.

Some Sharp LCDs don't have separate T-cons though.

Yes this model LC-37D44U does not have a T-con. How do I test the main board or should I assume with the error code and no picture but do have audio that it is the main board?

Ah, I recently worked on the LC-32D44E. The T-con is on the main board itself. I'd expect the mainboard is the same -- can you show some pictures?

I will get a picture but one of the parts suppliers that I have used before indicated that there is no separate T-con board for this model.

All of the T-con's functions on this model are integrated onto the main board. So whilst there is no T-con board, there is a "T-con", specifically, a few voltage regulators and a large SHARP processor.

Here's the service manual for your set.

If you're certain it's 2 & 5, it does appear to be a panel 5V failure, so I'll have a look at what might cause that.

OK, can you test the voltage on both ends of L9601 (round dark grey object marked "220"), with red probe on one end, black on the chassis, TV powered on blinking 2-5?

Before I recieved your message on testing L9601, I disassembled the unit down to where I could open and close/reseat the ribbon wires going to the LCD screen. (I had replaced two bulbs so I had the unit completely apart before. I thought perhaps the screen wasn't getting the signal) Anyway, I started the unit up, did a rest with the volume and channel buttons, plugged it into the cable, and it is working!! Thanks for your help! Hopefully this thread can help others in a similar situation......Cheers and God Save the Queen!!!

Un70TU7000b Backlights work, no picture, has sound, panel shorted caps
                          by EazyBone
Picked up this Samsung above thinking it'd be backlights but it isn't. Now MAYBE I'll get lucky.
Found some shorted caps among the panel boards. Each cap along the line is shorted. On every board (3 panel driver boards)I disconnect each side right and left ribbons and they are no longer shorted caps and have about 1.5Mohm resistance (on left and right boards). The middle board has the main board disconnected and the caps are shorted. Last 4 pics show arrow to caps.

Now what exactly do I need to do in order to attempt to fix this issue?

do I have to take each one...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                          by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Crestron TPS-2000L with Sharp LQ5AW136R panel
                          by Andrew453
I have numerous Creston TPS-2000L touchpanel home automation devices, which incorporate a Sharp LQ5AW136R panel. They all exhibit the same fault. They are about 10-15 years old.

The fault can be seen in the attached photo. Basically the displays are all washed out, to be point of being unreadable.

Clearly it's an issue with the panel. But my question is whether it's just aging related (e.g. all the pixels in the LCD wearing out) or whether it could actually be a more specific component (i.e. one capable of being individually replaced). I've seen suggestions on other...

                          Sharp LC-50LB370U PS or backlights?
                          by Mustang67ford
Hello all. Working on a sharp LC-50LB370U. A few days ago, I turned the tv on and immediately left the room, came back in and tv was black. Turned it off then on and all good (didnt think much of it at the time) for about a week. Did the same thing again but stayed black this time. When turning on, the word "sharp" is dimmer than normal I think then tv goes black. I do have sound and do have a display with the flashlight test. I trided unplugging and also holding in the power button for 30 sec, no change. I opened the back up and the backlights do turn on to some extent for a moment...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                          by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...
