47 philips pfl7432d, screen is dimming.

I bought this for 35.00 and decided to attemp to fix it. Worse case, is i'm out 35.00. Not a bad risk. the screen lights up but it seems dim all over and one side is starting to become darker. Which leads to a couple of ways to address this. But, my wife now has my dmm and all of my tools. Yep, they are gone into the divorce abyss forever. So. I'm essentially starting from scratch here. I would like to get a inexpensive dmm. just to get by, until my resources are available to buy a decent one. ANy ideas on a cheap dmm?

I'll been posting the pics tomorrow. and try to check out some voltages first. I will try to get the in voltages on the inverters first to see if the smps is pumping out the right juice, check caps on the inverters, and try to see what coming out of the inverter, if possible

    Thanks again,

    What is your budget?

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

UPDATE: Found the caps on both the master and slave blown and leaking. Ordered the Panasonic FR caps and got them today. While trying to get the tv up so I can start to work on it, the screen cracked. . So to work on it is is somewhat futile. I guess the inverter boards can be fixed and the boards parted out. But I'm so disgusted right now, perhaps that will be another day.

How did you crack the screen lifting it up? I've broken a screen before, but it took a lot more force than that.

Actually Tom, I tried to "roll" or push the TV on the bed . It was positioned against the bed so I was able to pick up the bottom and dragged the tv onto the bed. And then I flipped it over onto the pillows so I could take pics before I started to work on it. I guess something could have caught while lifting it or it torqued enough to put a small crack in the bottom center. There was nothing on the bed, like a screw or anything like that. The other night it sipped from the wall onto the floor, but i started it up afterwards and it was fine. I need to mention the TV was made in 2007 and weighed around 75 pounds.
