Philips 42PF7421D 2006 - multiple clicks, red LED, one long one short blink

I took off the back hoping to find some bad caps but I don't see any that look suspect on either the main board or the power supply board. Is it possible for them to be bad without any visible signs? I replaced 4 on the power supply board, that i was able to find at the local radio shack, but there are many that remain untouched. The same problem happens with the clicks and the same light code after i reattach everything.

I have already ordered a new main board and a new power supply board just in case...but they were costly so i'd rather just solder what i need to and return the boards. Also I don't think i can return either board once I open and install them, so if I install the wrong one first, i'm stuck with both boards when i only need one.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Edit: 2006 is the year, not part of the model number

You can't use RadioShack capacitors in a PSU, they are the wrong type (not low ESR.)

You can buy low-ESR capacitors from
          http://www.digikey.com/
          or the owner: https://www.badcaps.net/

Panasonic FR, FM and FC are good suggestions.

Does it not matter which of those 3 i use?

Side question...I just ordered a multimeter. Does that check diodes as well? I hear those tend to go bad with the caps on the Philips tvs

A multimeter can sometimes be used to test diodes if it has a diode test range, a great deal of multimeters do.

"FR" is the best capacitor, though FM and FC are both excellent. I would rank them from "excellent" to "very good".

Great info, thanks. I'll post back with results.
