It can't be a bad solder joint?

I can't see how. I've replaced most of the parts in that area and re-soldered every connection, including the flash memory chip on the bottomside.

planning on trying the mp2363 and cap fix on mainboard. power board is fine tv fires right up with another working main.

I'm new to surface mount chips like the mp2363. So my question is what temp +airspeed on rework station do i use?
I see on spec sheet 300 for no more than 10 sec.

I would do the cap c102 first, so far I that is what have done, using 100uF LOW ESR in parallel, no EEPROM yet.

i already made an attempt using the kit from shopjimmy with the ic101 and c102. but their video did not mention rework temp, and i think i might have cooked the new chip.
found your links to the parts and ordered them from mouser.
ordered the 2 caps and mp2363.
just want to make shure i dont cook them again.

I use the chip quick solder and flux to tin the pad. That reduces the melting temp pretty significantly. Since I didn't have the proper rework air gun I just used a heat gun with a cover with a small hole over the business end. Heat until the pad reflows then you're done.

Re: Samsung LN52A550 - clicking. Eeprom or something else?

looks like my flux paste has melting temp of 183, and the chips max temp is 300 for 10 sec.
So i'm guessing 190-200 would be safe.

Re: Samsung LN52A550 - clicking. Eeprom or something else?

                    Just some feedback ...

Had the same problem with my LN52A550P3FXZA (Aug-2008). Switching the TV on first time of the day the video was distorted with vertical lines and a screeching sound. LN52A550 power on problem.

After following the advice to replace the capacitors on the power supply board (despite non of them bulging ... they look perfectly normal) I still had the same problem. Before that I also upgrade the firmware which did not influence the problem.

I then focused on the main board and ordered a shopjimmy main board BN94-01723K Repair Kit (C102, IC101, IC1203). Since I was reading about the tantalum capacitor C102 problem here, I only replaced the C102 capacitor (half the size of the original one w/o any writing on it). And whoops that did the trick.

Not sure if I should replace the IC101 as well, but I am pretty sure I do not need to replace the audio chip IC1203.

TV is working fine for the past few days without any startup problems.

Great post with this info I fixed my ln52a550p3fxza by replacing the caps (47uf 10V POLYMER TANTALUM) C102, C131.

                      Thanks

As of today, have any of you been able to find the fix for the issue that fireman_bob had ? I apply heat to the area where Q500 is located , and the tv turn on/works temporarily.

                        Thanks

Budm, I had an old Samsung series 6 that I replaced the Caps years ago and no change (constant clicking and not powering up). After research, I found your posts concerning C102 and ran a 100uf 50v (all I had) in parallel. It powers up fine now, works great. Am I safe to just leave it as is, or would you recommend changing C102 with something like this?

You can get the replacement caps, I did the experiment with at least 3 TV's by paralleling the caps just to see how long it will last and as of today all the TV I gave to my friends are still working, it has been may be two years now.
If the the caps failed you will get the old problem back.

Please note for this record of these types of units, after the C311 /C102 repair, it was necessary for both of mine to be powered on and then shutdown before they actually starting operating normal again.

                                    Hi all,
I got an old Samsung 225MW TV with BN41-00825 motherboard.
Since the TV has a buzzer when it starts it makes a beep. The main problem is that the TV goes in a sort of bootloop and beeps every 2-3 seconds.
So I attached the VGA UART cable and read the debug data using a RT809H programmer:

According to the Service Manual all the voltages looks good, so I made a backup of the internal flash and all the EEPROMs (1 Settings + 3 EDID) and cleaned the EEPROM.
Now the TV boots but it's stuck on VGA. If I try to change the source it goes to TV, restarts...
