Iv got a panasonic 42" plasma with vertical thin colour lines. Iv never fixed a plasma before only lcds. Should i replace the buffers and if so what ones

Yes, that is most likely a bad plasma panel unfortunately. I do not know how so many lines could fail at once though. You can try replacing the C1/C2/C3 etc boards (horizontal buffer boards) but I highly doubt it will solve the issue.
