Well, the problem must be on the main board then, as that appears to be the only error signal from the PSU.

Since it cuts off just as the sound starts, I suspect a firmware or EEPROM problem. Unfortunately, I think that would necessitate a new main board.

She was /kinda/ right. It comes up, the Samsung chime plays, you get a perfect picture for a second...then it shuts off. It repeats this three times.
I though it was cycling on and off, does it make the startup chime a few times?
If so the main board is OK, and the problem is on the PSU...

According to the datasheet, it only shuts off once... and I don't understand why it would flicker.
Does INVERTERON/OFF vary at all?

It comes up and goes down three times. Or...it did. I seem to remember it doing it either four or five times the last time. I could be wrong. I'll have to resolder that jumper wire and try again.
This does indicate a main board fault...
Question is why is it doing this?
May I suggest you do the jumper trick, on that pin instead (but you need to cut the wire, as the signal goes from the main board to the power supply), then access the service menu and do a factory reset.
To reset it:
On remote control (any Samsung remote will do):
* From standby, press Info - Menu - Mute - Power (European models)
* From standby, press Mute - 1 - 8 - 2 - Power (US/Canada models)
Then select the reset option, it may be buried under a few menus.
