    Samsung 46'' LCD TV LN46A530P

I have a Samsung 46'' LCD TV LN46A530P that I picked up from a neighbor that was sick of dealing with it. I fixed an issue it had where it turned on and off many times before it would stay on that was just a few bad caps on the power supply an easy fix. Now its on to the 2nd issue the TV has, the right side of the screen will turn a washed out white color and stay that way for a while and then eventually after the TV is on long enough it goes away.

I have a mitsubishi lt-46149 with a Samsung lta460 something or other panel. It had the exact same issue. I swapped in a good t-con board with no success. It turned out to be a couple lines delaminating from one of the ribbons. It may not be that exact issue but I would suspect the panel.

Since it goes away a little later, it could be temp related/sensitive so see if heat on the board speeds up the process. I would start with the TCON and as johnboy said, check out those ribbons as well as the board itself.

Where is the tcon board located? This is the first time I have messed with newer TV's. I know plenty about the old CRT TV's. Is it the one at the top middle of the back of the screen?

Also what would you use to heat the board up as a test?

Usually at the top center of the screen under the metal shield.

Ok, so I took the metal shield off and looked at the ribbon cables no delamination that I can see. I took them out one at a time and reseated each of the 4 ribbon cables then the problem seems to have jumped to the left side of the screen. I reseated the cables a few more times and can see some slight distortion on the left side before the screen fully turns (screen is still black) on then it pops to a normal screen when it fully powers on. Either it warmed up some or that board might have some issues. I will try it again tomorrow morning and see if it stays the same with the distortion on the left now instead of the right on a cold start. Or if it just stays like it is now and just goes right to a good screen once the LCD charges up.

Maybe resetting the ribbon cables did it but I'm not claiming victory just yet.

Did you replace all the power supply capacitors with the right brand and rating?
I had one of these, but with a messed up screen and a loud noise, that one ended up being the mainboard. I have a 550 which I kept for myself, that one had only bad caps in the power supply.

The only caps I replaced where 2 that where budging and a 3rd one I tested on a capacitance meter and it tested a little low so I replaced it for one that read right on. That 3rd cap was a 100uf cap, I could get a cap kit and just redo all the caps in the power supply. The caps all tested good other wise when I pulled and tested each one.

Re: Samsung 46'' LCD TV LN46A530P

Caps can test OK with capacitance but fail with ESR. Power supply applications require a low ESR to function correctly.
I would get caps from digikey.com (or other reputable seller such as mouser) It may take a bit more time to find the caps but it could be cheaper and you will know what you are getting (i.e. no fakes or imitations)
Panasonic FM, FC, FR are great choices.

I find it odd it switched sides but that may be a good indicator it is not the panel and within the ribbon and TCON section of the TV.
Tell us what you find in the morning and you can heat using a hair dryer.

Ok so I power the thing on today and its on the left side now. After I turn it on it takes about 8 seconds but it flashes to a normal static screen. So maybe bad contacts to the t-con? Or the t-con board?

What flashes, the image, the backlight?
I would replace the capacitors first and then I would deal with the rest of the problems.
Every Samsung TV or monitor that I'm repairing, the first thing I'm doing is replacing the capacitors, even if they look good. How much is that, $5-$13 and I'm excluding capacitor problems.

The image flashes on the screen almost like it reboots and the image on screen slowly scans down and then its normal static on a TV. I could take another video of it but not sure how much help it would be.

Yeah I will get the caps I just have to go through it again and measure them and record their uf ratings. Then find a few extra bucks in between buying Christmas gifts. I know mouser always double charges me and refund my money like 2 weeks later so maybe digikey this time around.

Actually if you view my video in the first post its almost the same thing. It appears just like left side in the beginning of the video and when it scans down instead of there being white on the right side like the picture above it just goes to a normal screen now.

See this video (not mine.) The TV has a similar fault, but it's much worse.

Samsung Series 9 - BIOS issue
                            by Kjell
After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Samsung DM32D – Red LED blinks 5 times, won’t start (possible mainboard issue)
                            by Nairolf
                            Hello,

                            I have a Samsung DM32D display.
When I try to power it on, the red LED blinks 5 times and nothing happens—the unit won’t start.

Here’s what I have tried so far:
                            1. Disconnected the cable between the mainboard and the power supply → the backlight turns on.
                            2. Disconnected the main T-CON ribbon cable → same issue as before, the LED still blinks 5 times.
                            3. Disconnected one of the two T-CON ribbons to the panel (tested each one separately) → same issue, the LED blinks 5 times.

From these tests, I suspect the problem might be on the mainboard. Could anyone...

                            by vincentedel
                            Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

                            Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊
