Hey guys. I should know this answer by now, but I dont... I have a TV that I am replacing the capacitors on. It needs a few 25V 680uf capacitors. I was digging around in my boxes of part boards and found a motherboard with capacitors that are 25V 680uf. Problem is, these capacitors are short and have a metal housing. Unlike the electrolytic capacitors I am used to replacing. My question is will these work as replacements or are they totally different? Thanks!

Re: Capacitor question!
Can you take a picture? Are you sure they're 25V and not 2.5 volts?"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Re: Capacitor question!
Wouldn't do it... I've read that a slight increase in capacitance is ok, but not a decrease. You might be able to get away with it since a 2700uF cap might actually test at 3000+ uf. Don't take my word for it though. It also depends on what you're replacing with what. If you're going to use a general purpose 2700uF cap to replace a Low-ESR high ripple cap, I would say definitely no."We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. Re: Capacitor question!
Its all gravy, I found some 6.3V 3300uf rubycons in a box..lol Thanks guys!
One more question, since this thread is already here. I have a XPS 600 MB that has an inductor that is fried...non salvageable. I can not find any like it. It is very small. Any ideas on how to get around that...maybe unwind a bigger one?Comment

by PrologHi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.
I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.
I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)
I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never... -
by TyranGreetings folks. I darn near blew the heck out of my 12V inverter the other day by connecting it to a 24V battery source. :poof . Well lesson learned...... or maybe not
. But in the meantime I have 4 Capacitors that need immediate replacing each rated at 16V 3300uf and 105deg. I saw a break down review You Tube video where the host suggested that the 35V Capacitors were a better choice for manufacturers to use. Another video suggested that replacing capacitors of higher Voltage is fine but that the 3300uf rating should be kept the same. Can someone please clarify what the functional benefits...

by gumballIssue: Panel is partially dark or dimmed, left side is okay (see photos attached).
Trial: Replaced three visibly bad capacitors on the power supply board (see photos).
First result: Monitor worked for two hours only. Two capacitors bulged again.
Diagnosis: After replacing those capacitors the monitor was connected via HDMI cable to a laptop. Laptop was connected to power supply and charging. Power cable was removed from the laptop end and put back. Maybe this was a coincidence but since unplugging the power cable it was noted that the panel had darkened...-

by yuzupatogikHello,
I have this old (2004?) Altec Lansing ATP3 and i would like to replace the capacitors. I have identified 34 out of the 36 of them as Samxon GR of various capacities and voltages.
I can't find datasheets for the Samxon in any of the following variants:
10000uF 25 v - this one i really want to replace because i suspect it is what causes a dull hum regardless of the volume knob position or if the source is plugged in. I am eyeballing the Rubycon 25PK10000MEFCGC18X35.5 for this purpose. So if i pay a 10x the price part for shipping i might as well go ahead and...-

by chth96I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...-
