Count the blinks from the LED. May only be one blink.

I am working off of a TC-P42S2 training manual for now, I would think it should be close to the same.

If you have red light, you have stby power.
I am trying to find the manual for you.

Ok, Also when I plug it in, red light comes on solid for about 5 seconds and then rapidly flashes for about 30 seconds. and I do hear relays when cord is first pluged in.

              Re: Panasonic TC-P42X2

Red light goes green flashing, or flashes red? If it flashes red, you need to count exactly how many times. The TV is trying to tell you where the fault is.

I have found the manual and will shortly upload it.

It is for sure not a fault code, it is red, and flashes about 150 times with no gaps.
Thanks for the manual, I will report back soon with pics.

Very odd. Try in a dark room -- maybe panel is lit up but has no video?

I will try....but Their is no real reaction when the power button is pressed.

                        Re: Panasonic TC-P42X2

the problem seems to be in the A board on the 15v side of things.
When a6 is unpluged the PSU stays on showing all the right voltages.

On more testing, It gives codes until any part of the SN has a power plug on it.
Almost like the PSU kicks out so fast with the SN plugged in the a board just cant make a fault code for it. Does that sound right?

Sounds like a dead short SN. Check across SN power connector; should be >10kohm.

I pulled all the boards so I can do a better test, Broken leg makes it hard to shuffle around the tv,
Anyway, it is the SS board with a dead short, On p11 vsus shows dead short 15v is ok.
on SN3 all show as short. What should I start looking at?

                                Re: Panasonic TC-P42X2

Do you know how to test a MOSFET? This board primarily uses IGBT and MOSFET. They can all be tested like a MOSFET.

Also what is the part number. Should be something like TNPAxxxx. Sometimes the SS can be cheap enough that replacing it works out better than repairing it.

P.S. Most Panasonic TVs can be mounted on the floor stand and serviced upright (good design!) Ask a friend to help. Get well soon with the leg!

                                  Re: Panasonic TC-P42X2

                                  PN is TPNA5072.
To test a MOSFET put neg lead on source, POS on gate to charge it, move pos to drain, should be a low reading. Touch the leads with your finger to discharge and reading should go high.

That is how I was told, do you have a better method?

P.S. The guy forgot the stand, but is bringing it later today

No, you can just test across source and drain for shorts.

out of circuit right? or can I just lift the S leg?

                                        Re: Panasonic TC-P42X2

Tested It shows all of RJP30E4 are dead short between S and D.

The 2 RF1501 show low resistance but not shorted.

                                        So Q001, Q002, Q021, Q022 are all shorted
