Toshiba rear projection - Sound but No picture

I have a Toshiba rear projection tv, 57H82. Turned on the tv today and there is no picture, sound is ok. I have tried different inputs from DVD and VCR but get the same problem, no picture but sound is there. Any thoughts? It's possible that my stepdaughter played with the tv settings but this is completely denied...obviously. Is there any way to do a complete tv reset for factory settings? I'd like to try everything i can before i call in the repair guy. Thanks for any help.

I've taken the back off the tv just too look at the boards. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong (i can tell the difference between a cap and a resistor) but what do i know, there isn't any odd smell or any brownmarks that i can see.
I've noticed some "white gunk" around 4 capacitors that are close together. I'm not sure if this is just a glue that is there from when it was manufactured so a tech would know if it has been tampered with or if it's from the capacitors. I've taken pictures but don't know how to upload them for you guys to see.

    Thanks again.

I'm always sorry to hear about a big tv problem. This link may be a little help, or not.
Where is the tv? Mine went out yesterday when lightning struck, It's ok because the surge protection did it's job.

        Thanks Arneson.

Didn't find any help through that link. Good point on mentioning the lightning. I live in central florida and the afternoon before i realised the tv was bad there was a huge thunderstorm. My roommate mentioned that her surge protector had tripped on her pc. The surge protector on my pc didn't trip and it's fine, neither did the surge protector trip for the tv and other components. Everything else is on that protector is fine; dvr, dvd and vcr.
I found a TV Repair guy who charges $45 to take a look at it, then if he fixes it he applies the $45 to the final bill. Only bummer is i had to take it to him. We'll see what happens, i'll post what the problem is for anyone else it may be helpful to.
Fortunately i only paid $1000 for the tv when it was retailing at $1800. I got it from SamsClub and the screen was slightly damaged. Nothing to affect the picture at all. That was 3 1/5 years ago. If it's gonna cost more than $500 to fix i'll say forget it and go by a plasma or lcd. Fingers crossed it's less than $500.

I looked at what they said about sound no picture.
Not surprised that the advice says, horizontal output is blown.
To bad some tech won't come to you. The TV world is changing as more people have big built in sets that are not meant to be taken to shop anymore.
The in home repair is going to have to come back, and doctors as well.
