Panasonic Plasma 42" TH-42PV60H - Black Vertical Band

    Hi

I have a Panasonic Plasma 42" TH-42PV60H with a black vertical band in the middle of the screen (see attached). I opened up the tv to reach the C1, C2 boards and do some cleaning and re-sit the flex cables but did not resolve the problem.

Could it be the bond tab issue here i am facing, i read that Pana screen tab cables have these issues and not replaceable.

    Please advice thanks everyone !

It is possible that the C1 Buffer has a failed buffer IC that is causing the problem.

This plasma is old enough that the Buffers were built with the buffer ICs on the board and not on the ribbon. I have seen this on both some Panny's and LGs of this build and more times than not it is the C buffers and not the panel itself.

The beauty of it is that the C1 buffer can be found for less than $30 and if the problem still persists then you can part out the TV and get more than your money back.

Indeed, there are some C1 buffer boards available online which i can buy, not too expensive. i also found out online that many also have this problem and unfortunately the fault lies in the ribbon. I have decided to give local panasonic centre a call and see they can offer a cheap solution though this one is out of warranty. And someone got it replaced FOC, as its a common problem with pana plasma. Otherwise the last option is to buy a board and try my luck.
