    Samsung LCD 40"

    Just a general question regarding a Samsung LCD 40".
    There is a red vertical line one pixel wide from top to bottom. Can this be caused by either a bad panel or a bad t-con?

      Bad panel most likely. A thermal connection issue with the tab bonding to the top of the panel. Try flexing the panel back and fourth in a twisting motion to see if it goes away.
      Did I leave the soldering iron on?

          On these, I believe it's the actual IC on the tab bond that goes, so it's pretty much unrepairable.

              SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.

              TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

              tcon is built into mainboard.
              Only one cable goes to panel boards.
              there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
              cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
              removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
              used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

              Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]

              Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

              In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

              I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

              Samsung UN50TU8000 - Dead Panel Forensic Questions

              I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).





              When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
              When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.






              Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
              When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
