A friend of mine has a Polaroid 19” LCD TV that when turned off losses its programming. Every time when turned back on it shows a blue screen and has to be re-programmed through the menu. This is not normal. Maybe someone has seen this problem before? Any help greatly appreciated.

Can you try a master reset in the menu. Sometimes these TV's will tell you if it's a demo tv or for home useDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Ok I just picked up this TV from my friend and here are the symptoms. When it is plugged in it shows the name Polaroid than defaults to blue screen. the only function available is the menu. Push the menu button and do a factory reset and you can than choose the Input and volume. Turn it off and back on and you have to follow the same steps all over again? I opened it up and found one swollen cap (330 uf @ 25v) in the logic board which I replaced(330uf@35v) put did not make a difference?? I will post pictures in the morning.Comment

Here are some pictures and as you can see the logic board is loaded with caps. It may be cheaper to buy a new Tv than replace all these caps?? May be someone may be able to narrow it down to which caps might be suspect? There are 74 caps and quite a number different values. Thanks freakaftr8 when you say master reset I assume you mean Factory reset? I have done that in order to get it to work and have to repeat the procedure each time it is shut down. The unit works OK for either a TV or a PC monitor just have to do a factory reset each time it is turned offComment

I would think that EEPROM is losing 5v in standby. But the odd thing is I tried unplugging my 19 inch Polaroid and she I power it up I can still switch inputs. Out of tolerance regulator maybe?Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

EEPROM doesn't have to be refreshed constantly to hold data.
Once it's written, it remains written.Comment

Thanks guys and a TV Tech I am not. I have replaced several of the suspect caps but have not made any difference. I do notice a (hissing humming)sound in one of the boards when in standby? It is not there when powered on? I can't seem to narrow it down?Comment

My laptop HP 245 AMD 14-FP5-6L -GDDR5X2 has a battery charging circuit error:
- If not power on, battery charge ok.
- if i turn on the power, not charging the battery ( the battery charging indicator light, from yellow to white)
The laptop only charges when not turned on. I have changed the battery and charger, but the situation remains unchanged.
I replaced the BQ 25A charging IC but the device only charges when not turned on.
everyone please help me with solution, what should i do ?

I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm
And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.

i ordered a lot of caps from digikey to repair my xboxs. one thing i ordered was 50NXA10MEFC5X11-ND caps and i think they are not polarized. will this cause any kind of a problem? i really don't want to order new caps just because of this. -
Lenovo Thinkpad W541 Wistron LKM-1 WS MB 12291-2 Works from the network and charges the battery only when it is turned off.
If you press the power button, the laptop turns on and works from the battery, but does not take power from the power supply.
If you boot into Windows and close the lid while working, thereby putting the laptop into sleep mode, the laptop begins to charge the battery.
even checked it this way: I bring a neodymium magnet to the Hall sensor during operation - the screen goes out and the battery starts charging.
Also, the laptop does not turn on without... -
Hearty greetings to everyone, trust you all are doing excellently well.
Please, I have the above problem, the laptop turned on after the switch was activated but it will turns off in less than 2 seconds.
The power stables in very rare case. Once it was stabled, everything works fine.
Once the power switched is pressed, 5V and 3V were present.
The things i have done:
1. I have check for shorts on the board, but nothing. The board is short free
