Hi All,
I'm having a problem with a 2 year old Sony Bravia, 40" LCD TV. I read through all the boards, and did a bunch of testing, so here's a recap to make this as easy as possible:
- MODEL: Bravia KDL-40EX523
- ISSUE: One day, the TV just had no picture. It came out of nowhere. I tried plugging it in, resetting it, etc. But nothing works to bring the picture back. I have sound, but no picture. I can tune channels, hear them, but can't see a menu, or anything. The backlight works great.
Troubleshooting so far:
- I took apart the TV and checked for any bad caps, blown fuses, etc. anything obvious or burnt, nothing.
- I took a multimeter to a few fuses on the power supply board, and everything looks good.
- I checked the fuse on the T Con board, it is in good shape. Checked it with a multimeter, works good (~ 0 resistance, isn't burnt). (This is usually the 'F1' fuse. For me it was rated at 3A, 125V)
- When I turn the TV on, there is a slight clicking... but I can't identify a source.
TV repair guy said it's the main board; I read all similar threads on here; it seems like it's the T Con board.
How should I proceed in troubleshooting it? Would it be best to bite the bullet, and buy a new T Con board, and test that? Or should I get a new main board (it's called a BAT V board AFAIK?)? Or am I overlooking something before continuing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
