Cad bad caps make vertical lines on the screen?

Hi guys, long time no see. Hope you're all ok.

Just bought a tv with vertical lines on it, i get no pic in the background so cannot change source or play with settings.

The lines are on the left hand half of the screen.

Checked the psu (vestel 17pw15-8) and it has a few bulged caps but all voltages seem to be checking out ok. Sound is also still working.

Checked fuse on the Tcon board and its fine.

So to my question, can the faulty caps cause vertical lines? even though the voltages seem ok.

The tv is a "DUAL 32 inch lcd", Never heard of that make until today.

Any help would be great guys. Thanks

Yeah, they can - you'll probably find that although the voltages appear OK, the ripple is through the roof, and this screws with the rest of the TV. I have had a similar problem on a TV caused by bad caps.

You should recap it. Pictures are always welcome

Yes as caps warm up their ESR can fall and they can start working better. Thus the TV may start working. That's a pretty clear sign that the caps are the issue.

If it does the same thing tomoz after being off over night i will stick some pics up, i will also get some caps ordered and show you the before pics of the power board.

            Thanks again.

Strange LG TV issue : Image vertical lines in black screen
              by Ancient1
              Hi

              Asking for a friend.

I'm used to black vertical line in otherwise good image - probable solution is a rubber to push and tighten the COFs bonding.
but here its the opposite !

TV has new T-con = same issue
A missing panel voltage would have global effect

So , what should one do ? how can I find where the fault is ?

              Thanks !...

              Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
              by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Samsung LE32C530F1W with vertical lines on Screen
              by Kambi13
Hello all, I'm dealing with a Samsung LE32C530F1W that now has vertical lines on the right side. It started with a ghost image on the top of the screen and then I tried the old trick of masking a few contacts in the flat cable that connects the T-Con board to the screen with some tape. It worked for a while and now out of the blue it turned into what you can see in the pic. I was able to get my hands on a known good T-Con board but the problem still persists. Now, what I've noticed is that the cooper colored flat cables that are directly connected to the screen itself are very hot to the touch...

LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE - Vertical Lines on Half of The Screen?
              by ItalianSat
              Hello Everybody,

I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.

Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.

Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
              by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
