    Vizio VO420E Half of the screen lights up, good sound.

    Hello,

    I recently bought this TV from a family member and now it no longer works.

    This is the issue at hand:
    I turn the tv on and the orange VIZIO logo turns to white.
    I then hear a quiet buzzing noise (and i mean quiet, you need to get close to hear it) and I can see the left side of the screen turn on and the VIZIO logo on the screen appears, but only the left side of the Logo is bright and the right side is dim. Then the buzzing noise goes away at the screen is completely dark. After that I can't do anything its blank on everything. I do have sound I've connected to every port and was able to get sound thru the speakers by going thru every input. Any ideas on my problem?

      Sounds like you have inverter problems. Insufficient voltage (due to caps or other reasons) can cause the buzzing. But either way, the CCFLs are not getting enough power.

      Can you clarify what you mean by blank; only the backlight goes off or even the image? (i.e can you see an image using a flashlight (I find sunlight too sometimes is very useful))

      If the inverter detects a prob (most will) it will send an error code to main and it'll shut power off to inverters.

      Could you include pics of the inverter(s) and power supply, OR just the power supply if it is integrated using a high def camera and using the manage attachments feature?

          What I ment by blank is there is nothing at all on the screen.
          The logo shows up and then black like the screen is off.

          I've included pictures of the inverter/power and main board. I can't find any "blown" caps.

              Ok, are there any more caps under those metal heatsinks? If there are, get pictures of them showing the tops.
              Measure the voltages at those two connectors. Report it with the legend then actual
              Example:
              Pin 1 - 24v - 23.68v
              etc.

                  Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.

                  Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

                  My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

                  This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                  The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
                  Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...

                  Hello Everyone,

                  This is my first post so I will try to be as precise as possible without making this post too long winded. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the original problem but I included images of the TV internals.

                  I have a Sharp 70LE660U. The problem started a few months ago with the bottom row looking out of sync and was dark on the left side and then fading to transparent on the right side. Shortly after, a dark cloud appeared in the center of the screen. The dark cloud started small and shaded but the image was visible. It also affected the menu area....

                  good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

                  By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...
