See my sig file for
1) how to post pictures
2) how to test a voltage regulator (especially if it is a Vizo)--- begin sig file ---
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Re: Vizio vw42l fhdtv10a
Using the search function on this forum, there are a only about a hundred or so posts about this same set, and same problem. I hope you didnt spend too much changing out the power board. Then again, you can sell the other board after you get it working and can properly test it to show good.
As for now, you can test all of the mainboard LDO regulators as seen in other threads on this model. If you're not looking to go that far, just buy another mainboard. Make sure you match up the numbers with your board.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Vizio VW42L FHDTV10A will not power on without unplugging and re-plugging the TV back in several times.

The TV will not always act the same way when it is plugged in to try and get it to start up.
First, I plug the TV in and get the Vizio logo to light up orange. Press the button to turn it on and nothing happens.
I then unplug the TV and wait a few seconds and re-plug it back in. This time when I press the button, the Vizio logo turns white, but no back light comes on. During this time the outputs... -

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED... -

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but... - Loading...
