Re: Samsung PS42A450P2 plasma screen problem

The American model would be PN42A450

    S = Europe/Asia Pacific
    N = North America

Re: Samsung PS42A450P2 plasma screen problem

Wife got tired of being without TV, so I bought a new Vizio LED LCD TV today. Have not given up on Mr. Samsung Plasma though...

I found a Main Board for sale that comes from a Samsung PN42A450P1D (a North American model): http://goo.gl/O3i3J

Will be about USD 75 including shipping.

Based on other items for sale on Ebay it looks like the North American TVs use the same Logic Board (model LJ41-05078A) as the European TVs.

So...I am guessing that the North American board above is "close enough" to my European model PS42A450P2 that it can communicate with my Logic Board, even though the TV model suffixes are a little different.

Does that seem reasonable so far?

      OK..other differences:

      1) The connectors (LVDMS, Power, Speaker and IR) are in different locations on the Main Boards. I guess that will take some hacking. May be tricky trying to extend the LVDMS cable.

      2) The North American board is a little shorter than my European one. But actually, my board is mounted to the TV frame using the set of screw holes 2nd from the top, so should not be a problem. Board widths are the same.

      3) I probably have to cut some holes in the TV case since the signal input connectors are different. (No SCART jacks. More component-in jacks.) Will be a real Frankestein job, but it's the back of the TV, so I don't care.

What do you think? Worth a try? Looking for some words of encouragement or calls for sanity.

Re: Samsung PS42A450P2 plasma screen problem

Just want to put some closure to this thread that I created back in September. I decided not to pursue replacing the main board on the Samsung and am going to see if I can part out some of the remaining functional components.

A big "thank you" to everybody on the forum for your help. It was fun doing the diagnosis even though the patient didn't get saved.

          Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
          by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
          by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
          1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
          2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
          3. Problem: TV shuts down

otherwise on the motherboard it displays edp and I don't know, do the panels I tried only work with the LVDS protocol?

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
          by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

          LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem
          by jimjoe123
I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

          Then each time...
