L26ta6a wharfedale lines on screen on warm up fixed

tv was taking about 10-15mins for the picture to appear there were just lines going horizontally across the screen, thought it was a bad solder joint or tcon cable, so ordered new cable...no differance, ordered tcon and fitted no differance, sent tcon back and swopped for a main board.....still no change! but there was some dodgy noises coming from 105J cap on PSU so decided to swop it and see if that sorted it, and low and behold....BINGO!

MORAL OF THE STORY.......IF THERES NOISES COMING FROM A COMPONENT THAT SHOULDN'T MAKE NOISES SWOP IT FIRST THEN RETEST BEFORE ORDERING BOARDS ON A WHIM

SORRY NO PICS BUT THERES ONLY ONE 105J RED CAP ON THE POWER SUPPLY AND ITS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE BOARD

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE

Surely this would have caused low supply voltages, causing the issue?

Well last night I got a call saying it's doing it again now, so maybe it wasn't that, I will be getting the tv back Thursday to investigate the problem, must be the power board cold joint maybe

well had another look at it.....when i twist the panel it comes on, so im guessing its the tab bonds, all voltages are normal and ive changed the tcon and the cable and the main board with no differance, all ive done is padded the screen where the tabs are, so fingers crossed its cured it, ive tested it a few times cold now and the screen has come on straight away both times

just hope when the guy gets its back its gonna be ok

still no joy....just got the tv back.....ended up giving him a 32" that i fixed,

so back to square 1 now.... im guessing there is something going on with the PSU though, because ive tried swopping all the other boards the only 1 i havent done is the PSU

gonna take some pics then upload

Fault must be with panel then. If it is a Chi-Mei I have seen two similar faults on 26" LCDs.

Re: L26ta6a wharfedale lines on screen on warm up fixed

Hi Guys, I realise it's been quite a while since the original post, but I'm hoping someone can help.

                  I've just been given a Wharfedale L26TA6A.

The person that gave it me said it has the following faults.

When switching it on it takes a long time to come on.

Sometimes after it's been on a while, the picture becomes (in their words) pixelated.

I've just plugged it in and switched it on and, on switching it on, after a few seconds the backlight comes on but the screen remains blank (grey/black)

If anyone has any clues where to look first, or if it's worth repairing I'd be grateful.

Also, if anyone has the user or service manuals for it, could they send them through to me?

Thanks in advance for your help.

                  Pete

go straight in and have a look at the power board caps, sounds likely, check voltages and post some pics and report back
