Samsung LCD TV Screen Image Retention / Burn-In

Hi guys, was given this Samsung LCD TV by a family member because it would not come out of standby which turned out to be a faulty T-Conn board. The TV is now fully operational but has some very slight screen image retention, apparently caused by a SKY logo or something? This image was present before the repair. If I were keeping this TV it would not bother me too much as it's very slight but I'm looking to sell it on.

My question is, is there some way of rectifying this problem?

    Model number: LE32R87BD
    Year: 12/29/2007

    Thanks,
    Al.

Re: Samsung LCD TV Screen Image Retention / Burn-In

It will go away usually in a couple of days - LCD burn in is usually temporary.

If the T-con was faulty and held the image static for a long time (without the AC reversal a working T-con provides) - it may have electrolysed the LCD (which only takes 10-20 minutes before visible burn in appears.) You can try applying strong flashing patterns to the screen to attempt to fix it, but there are no guarantees.

Do you have a computer which you can connect to the TV?

Though I would say a couple of days of "normal" TV should get rid of it for good.

Can you create, e.g. a PowerPoint presentation which flicks between black and white every second?

Has the burn in decreased from normal use?

To be honest, I've not had this tv running for a couple of days normal use. Maybe I should leave it on when I get home tonight to see if the burn-in fades out? I'll also have a go at the PowerPoint presentation you mentioned.

I think you should use it - you'll find that it will decrease usually within a couple of hours, at most a day...

I laughed a bit at the description though as it claims to be able to improve lagging/response time...

Defect in either the backlight or the LCD panel itself.

Will this disc fix sunburn? Only joking guys! I've used the t.v now for a while and to be honest, the image is still the same, just noticeable. Only wish there was somehow I could take a picture of it?

Got myself one of those Calibration, Screen Burn DVDs. Run it twice through the screen wash (2hrs) Still a bit of burn there so now trying it on the color wash section. Maybe you have to listen to 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band' to make it work?

Not sure if you can see the image I'm talking about in the photo? In the middle of the screen, the image looks like a square box of circles?

Looks more like mura, defect in the LCD itself.
