    Sony KDL32L5000

    Dear BadCappers:

--See attached picture. Vertical bars, horizontal bars and lines, lots of jittering and jumping. Is this a main board problem?

          Dear Badcapers:

--Thanks for your responses. I will take into mind all that you said. I am waiting the arrival of Freeze Spay and a remote before doing further testing. I will post more pictures and testing results at that time. If the display is bad, I think I will sell the remaining parts on eBay. Dumpster diving continues.

            Dear Badcappers:

--Freeze spray around the Tabs has no effect. Cables have been checked repeatedly. Please see the requested additional pics. I am thinking of bidding on a TCon board.

looks like panel to me. you can try a tcon but the black line looks very much like a failed tab.i always use a credit card to apply pressure on the cable where it connects to the panel

                Dear Awyatt2:

--Thanks for your help. I have not been able by using freeze spray or pressure of any kind to prove that a tab bond issue is involved. Looking at the live display, there are no stationary black lines anywhere. The large horizontal artifact in the middle of the screen sometimes updates later that the rest of the screen. While all of this does not eliminate a tab bond issue, it at least to me indicates a bad T-Con. I will see if anyone else would care to opine. Then I will probably by a T-Con and see what happens. At worst, If is is the display screen, I will eBay the working boards. Thanks for all the help.

in your last pic it looks like a black line across the screen right above the browline of the man. the sony i had was the same way.in the 3rd pic i see the same lines same location. freeze spray didnt help mine either but the disassembly and credit card trick pointed it out. no amount of flexing would show it up either it was in the far right corner, the last two on top of screen.

                    Dear Awyatt2:

--There are no black lines which stay in one place, they move up and down erratically. Quite possibly the unit does indeed have a bad display but first I will replace the T-Con. I only spent $28 so we will see. I will report in again, when I make further progress in the investigation. Thanks again for your help.
