M3D460SR Vizio 46" LED LCD Tv Power On Problem

I have a M3D460SR Vizio 46" TV, that has a power on problem. Sometimes when I turn off the TV I am not able to turn it back on pressing the power button. I would have to unplug the TV and replug it in. The light would blink twice, pause a second and then pause about 18 times more after (not sure if this is a code for defect or not). Then I would be able to turn it on fine after it stops blinking. I tested it out turning off the TV on and off and sometimes Itll work 3 times before the problem happens. It seems completely random when it does happens. I programmed my remote to switch the power on and off also and still have the same problem so I do not think it is the power button itself.

When i do get it to turn on and back off, the light would kind of flicker once and then light up bright after a second and the TV turns on. When it doesn't work the light would only flicker once nothing after and clicking the power button will have no response.

Any ideas whats causing this? I was told that the TV might of been dropped due to shipping but is not certain. Since it seems random, a cold solder joint maybe? But wouldn't know which board to check. Any ideas before I upload the photos in a bit?

Many Vizios are plagued with bad voltage regulators. It would be a good starting point to test your voltage regulators. Search this forum for "U33 Vizio". I'm sure I have written procedures on how to test them.

Trying to turn on the TV, Vizio light flickers once but tv won't turn on. (seems like it is stuck on standby, but voltages show as if it is turned on)

All those readings suggest the voltage regulators are working.

On the power board, there are two connectors. List the legend and the measured voltages when the TV is on.

One of the pins is PS_ON. PS_ON is a signal from the main board telling the power supply to come on. You may want to press the on/off button several times and note the readings on PS_ON each time.

Re: M3D460SR Vizio 46" LED LCD Tv Power On Problem

Here are the measurements while the TV is on:
            13 - 0v
            DIM - 0v
            +12 - 12.00v
            +12 - 12.00v
            Gnd - 0v
            Gnd - 0v
            Gnd - 0v
            +24v - 23.7v
            +24v - 23.7v
            pS-on - 1.85v
            5v - 5.23v
            5v - 5.23v

Measurements when I press the power button and the TV doesnt turn on:
            13 - 0v
            DIM - 0v
            +12 - 12.15v
            +12 - 12.15v
            Gnd - 0v
            Gnd - 0v
            Gnd - 0v
            +24v - 23.9v
            +24v - 23.9v
            pS-on - 1.85v
            5v - 5.26v
            5v - 5.26v

When turning on and off the TV, the PS_ON pin reads 1.85V and as press the power button to off, it takes a couple of seconds and then the pin reads down to 0.030V. Turning on the TV, and getting it to work on the pin goes from 0.03V to 1.85V again when on.

Have you tried taking apart, reseating and cleaning every connector in the TV?

Just gave your suggestion of reseating all the connectors a go but didn't seem to solve the problem.

When I turn on the TV, is the vizio logo suppose to show everytime the TV is turned on? I might of imagined it but I think I was able to turn on the TV once and it went straight on to picture with no delays and no vizio logo on screen first.

No idea. I don't own any Vizio products and plan never to do so unless I get them for free.

Hi, I just started troubling shooting this exact same problem on my M3D460SR. All the voltages outlined above are similar to mine. I looked at the LED T-Con board T460HB01 and found another component that looks similar to a voltage regulator, however I cannot find the component searching the web. It is U205 and the IC has "N322 9184D" on the top of it. This component can not be found on Digikey or general google searching. Can anyone verify that this is a Voltage Regulator? It has the same form factor as some of the others. See picture for details.
